I am in the process of re-doing the subframe in the zed after i found the diff was leaking out of the front seal. I have pressed all of the old bushes out and am now in the process of installing new bushes into all of the different suspension arms.

My dilemma is that i can not get the damn things in, i have tried pressing them in and i have tried using a screw thread with washers to try and pull them in.

What is the best way to install these. It is driving me crazy i have 2 of them in but it took me about 4 hours of pain and frustration?

    Thanks,
    Terry

Someone...? wrote in a thread,Put them in the freezer overnight, then try and install.they will not be so "bouncy"?It worked fine for him.perhaps oil the casing before too.

I have greased the casings, i was thinking this would be my next option but i wasn't sure if it would actually be that effective. I guess i haven't got much to lose.

Hey i just used a small vice clamp. But that was stilll hard. the bushings liked to pop out if not clamped in perfectly level. you are taking the centre metal washer thing out before pushing them in?

Did you remove the metal shells?, there are two, one encases to old bush the other is pressed into the carriers. you have to remove the shells from the old bush

id say u havent removed all the shell casings mate !!! takes some time, they should slide in pretty easy then with the thread and washer method

Nah i removed both of the metal peieces from the bushings. The problem is as you described it keeps trying to pop out rater than going in square.

I managed to get another 8 in last night but they are driving me crazy just as you are about to get it they decide its a good time to shift on you and you are back to square 1.
