Everything on google or wikipedia seems to be american related when it comes to the Z32. So, can anyone confirm if VVT was dropped in 96+ zeds world wide or just in the American market? ie, do japanese zeds still have vvt in the later models?

    Thanks

I always thought it was world wide. BUT further reading sugests it wasnt. after 1996 they had t meet the CAlifornia emissions standards which where the toughest in the world.

I am almost positive it was US only as I have seen the 1998 import at Nisport and the VVT was still fitted to that one.

    Thanks Terry...

based on your info and what tektrader has said in his previous post, I'm leaning towards the idea that 96+ zeds still have VVT except for in the U.S. Thats great news..:)

..... well it didn't tell me one way or the other, neither did the other 2! The fact that 3 different books don't mention any deletion of VVT in any market at any time, while mentioning the other changes we do know about, points to VVT being retained across the board. And the key reason for the Z32 being dropped in the US was a change in US side impact regs for 1997 - combine that with falling sales, rising prices, and newer competition, Nissan decided it wasn't worth stumping up the extra $$$ for the engineering changes. Nothing to do with pollution laws at that point, so no reason to delete VVT.
