Finally got around to uploading photos after putting on my new wheels the other week as I've been pretty busy with work. But Pictures speak louder than words so I think I'll just shutup for a bit :)

Looks 100x better in real life with the sun shining off them imo:zlove: But I think the car looks a bit high atm, so I'm looking into coilovers. What's the go with legalities are they illegal or not? Just as long as they don't reduce the distance between the bump stop by more than 1/3 and the car sits more than 100mm off the ground?

ps.shall we place bets to see how long it takes for the 20's to completely destroy my spine?

They're nice wheels...but not in that size and definitely not on a 300 :(. Rusty breaks are an eyesore lol.

Suffice to say those wheels in 17/18's in shadow chrome would have set your car off nicely..but it's your car so have fun!

hmmmm I'm +1 on all the anti chrome comments... Also those wheels look heavy. What do they weigh??

I'm also interested to see what affect this has had on your overall handling/performance as ichizora already asked.

Have you driven over the train tracks in town yet? How'd that go with f-all rubber on your wheels? On second inspection... less than f-all rubber because they're stretched. Was the stretch just to keep the rolling radius the same and not throw your speedo out?

actually you know what? I know how much I want the rims I've got planned and I'd be stoked to get them, so congratulations regardless of my and other haters' opinions

oh and first to mention illegal

Yes, unfortunately these wheel/tyre combo IS illegal on your Zed currently.

I know (from previous threads where we've had this discussion) that you have the tyre placard that only allows the 16" stock rims on there (and not showing the 25th anniversary model with 17" rims)
So you're only currently only allowed a wheel/tyre combo with an outside rolling diameter of 646.19mm when your new 20's have 225/35/R20 on them that have a outside diameter of 665.48 mm. So they're illegal, no questions.
(even if you got a 25th anniversary placard with the 17" option, they would still be illegal)

You should have gone the 225/30/R20. That would have made you legal as the outside diameter would have been within the legal tolerances at 642.87 mm. (and it would keep your speedo more accurate aswell)

I thought we'd been over all this stuff a while ago anyway?? i put up enough information on legal wheel/tyre size combo's to kill a rhyno!

So I seem to be getting the impression that the aus300zx community doesn't think much of my new rims  knew the chrome wouldn't be accepted very well.

Can't really judge driving around town as my suspension isn't in the best of nick, however it isn't as bad as I originally thought it would be. Performance wise, well it's an na so performance was never a big thing for me so I've never been too worried about that.

I bought these 2nd hand dirt cheap just to get me out of trouble for the time being as I need to get the car down to a2zed, and the rubber on my stockies was (wait for it) 13 years old and they were starting to crack and fall to bits so I decided that for the same money I might as well get a set of rims to go with it.

Benny, I really appreciated all the time you took to go through all the numbers with me, and will be looking at some new rubber as soon as finances allow :)

Oh, and I've got plans for the brakes in the future too so they won't always look too shabby. :zlove:

Ahh, sorry mate - i didn't realise they were second hand. I just saw you say your "new" rims, so i assumed as much.
So of course you'd have to just use what rubber was on there already. I completely understand now. :)

most if not all pits will look at the inches. 2in more the stock is the max

stock = 17' max you can go is 19' legally

don't know about WA legislation, but qld rules works on outside rolling diameter of the largest optional tyre specified on your placard +/- 15mm (regardless of what size rim is in it). Fact.

    Stocks 16 inches.

Benny_C the zeds guide to rims. Qld is the no frills state unfortunately. At least you have racing tracks :(

Tassy is a bellybutton? How do you visualize that?

Here in SA, as per the regency engineer, 2 inches is the maximum outer rolling diameter over stock. It was once 2 inches bigger in rim, but that was scrapped to then be restated as 2inches bigger in rolling diameter, rims are whatever you can fit, with suitable load rating.

Maybe the case in WA too, maybe worth checking. Not saying you're wrong btw, but there was a changer here, maybe there too?

And to the OP. Nice mini truckin Rims :p:D

Nah, they're a nice design, albeit not being a massive chrome fanboy myself.

If your happy with it, thats all that matters. You will definitely get some extra looks now. So be proud, and GL with keeping them rash free.

Aye, its like Chilli said and loud'n'proud plus cant help to say the cops are going to LOVE you, all they need is 1 excuse to pull you over and they'll keep going over your car with a defect check list.... just have to get the wrong cop which is only a matter of time unfortunately these days :(
