Just thought I post up some pics for the intersted partied on the modified 2k style front bars that were discussed in this thread http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300876&highlight=fiberglass At this stage I have completed a dummy mold of a standard 2k bar and have got the first bar laid up and curing. This first bar will be the one that gets chopped to make the modified bar. I do not know If i will be able to make and other stock 2k bars from this mold as it was only designed as a quick one and will not wear well from multiple copies. Some piccies Mold laid up on car so that the urethane kept its propper shape. Mold off the car and prepping to make the split for the inside edge. Completed mold cleaned up and gelcoated for the first bar. Mold laid up and drying. Crosses fingers and hopes it goes well. :zlove:
looks great man. interested!, even though i hate fiberglass with a passion ide still consider one of these.
wha this is soooo awesome. exactly what i needed, in perfect time. if you can enlargen the mouth till it is level with the indicators (slightly lower than elies-URHYNS) i will be on this as soon as they become available. even if a lip version can be done, this has come at the perfect time for me love your work :zlove:
Shouldn't be any copyright issues, it's a non-oem standard replacement part. No different to a water pump or spoiler or timing belt. I'm keen to see the modified version, I've got my GReddy bar off at the moment and the mounting points are falling to bits It will need repair at some stage, so might be worth just going a new one
I cant imagine so. This will be different to a 2k bar and too much will be changed to say that they are the same. One of the identifying parts of a geniuine 2k bar is the newer indicators and my bars will have the 89 style indicators. I will not call the finished bar a "2k style bar" it will have some other kick ass name This item will also be different to the one available from UAS so there should be no issues there. :zlove:
I pulled the first stock 2k bar out of the mold today. The edges are a little rough but I was expecting as such but all in all I'm happy with it. Let the modifications begin One fiberglass 2k bar How does it fit? None to shabby
Don't worry Kiz, in lowering the bar and opening up the main mouth the SMIC ducts will also be opened up. I have SMIC's too so I wasn't going to forget them
That's really nice looking work mate. Seen one of your rear spoilers in person and that was fantastic. Keep it up.
At this point i'm still in for a totally stock 2k bar, pending prices and of course what my new stock front bar provided by my insurance turns out looking like.
Progress is good Picked up my FRP rear wing today (perfect, thanks Al) and saw the new bar. Looking good I must say. Great idea having stock indicators. Besides looking a bit different to the usual Y2K bar, it saves a bundle on buying 2K indicators. Great work, Al. Should prove very popular.
