Hi All, Back again 2db over on exhaust no boost controller allowed even if engineers report no pod filter allowed even if engineers report no lcd v2 from peter collins i hate epa has anyone got a stock air box i could lend or lease to pass please ? - Bill p.s. he didn't even worry about fuel reg, ignition amplifier, hose from aiv to aiv on exhaust, egr, aiv etc..
Not 100% positive Bill but I may still have my old Stock Air Box lying around somewhere, i'll get back to you tomorrow. MoulaZX
Is it because it was positioned 'blocking your view'? I don't see how it could be illegal otherwise...
Eaxctly, And the boost controller etc I thought was allowed as long as its deemed to still pass emissions?
lcd v2 can tune/adjust the ecu timing = illegal as they stated not cause of position boost controller got engineers but epa says wont pass emissions = remove ^ they have not tested emissions, only sound and tampering -bill
In that case just use the 2nd most recent firmware which doesn't include the function to adjust the ECU parameters.
i'll just unplug it and put in glovebox not hard wired or mounted just sitting under single din cd player -bill
I'm sorry, I was thinking it could be an ongoing problem. If it's only to pass 1 test then sure just unplug the 1 damned plug dammit!
Got a stock Air box here Bill you can have, better keep a hold of it so we can pass it around, sounds like it might be getting a bit of use.
Yep, found mine too, still has filters in it lol. Yours if you need it Bill. Probably closer to Ron actually... either way, come by whenever and pick it up. MoulaZX
excellent, thanx guys i hope after this i'll be ok let you know - Bill thanx again for everyones help
ok, exhaust sucks mate, only way i can think to drop it is if you borrow a stock exhaust . as for the no boost controller, thats correct. No pod though, your in wollongong, im in Goulburn (IE POLICE ACADAMY, YAY!). my car had a VERY long list of defects all of which i got engineered INCLUDING my dual pod intake, They just require them to bein a sealed air box (hard to do usually in a Z and i tried to argue there location itself was a type of sealed air box) So not sure where you got your info but Pods can be engineered. Good luck with it all and i really hope it sorts out
damn, how long has it been, finally did my second test and passed i'm happy again and now love the zed again - Bill. p.s. had to disconnect the boost controller, change pod to stock but found out i could have used it. now i'm getting my new exhaust so no more drama's thanx to Ross & Ron for the parts, i'll return them soon. thanx guys
Boost controller, I understand, but what about the pod filter??? I would be interested to know exactly what the inspector had to say about this...
its not a no no 100% its in their opinion that it can/could/might cause more sound than stock intake so comes down to pod being too loud. they think.. (grey area, so pods are ok until they test etc.) i offered to do test with and without pod but they denied but epa could not backup with 100% pod not allowed, the system is screwed. they don't even know themselves. same with variable boost controllers, they are allowed as long as they have been emission tested on all settings. again i offered to do a emission test on variable boost and still denied. as stated if tested it, if they boost too much i'de expect new engine if they damaged while testing emissions. after dealing with epa & tester, i got the feeling they just wanted me just to go away. but all sorted now.
