I've just got my quote from coz, $2650 including shipping for the parts I want.

I've read about import taxes etc and just wanted to check from people's experiences what the go is for this with taxes/fees etc?

Whats the dollar value that the government tries to take MORE of my money?

    Cheers,

    Adam

I've never been slugged but maybe if you bring in over a certain amount it kicks in. Easy way to avoid it is find out a what amount it kicks in then make a few orders under it to get what you want. Coz rock, took 3 days to get my order and saved heaps.

You will be hit with GST if the amount is over $1000

Has happened to me when importing items from America or China for my business. Also there will be custom fees on top of the GST.

Best to get items in in multiple lots of under $1000. Tha't what I do now.

CZP usually has a work around for this which he does anyway, rarely do you get any import taxes or duty.

Only been stung once with a parcel that was valued at US$1200. It's a pain getting it out of customs too as they want you to fill in 5 pages of paper work plus pay the fees via direct debit, no credit card accepted

    G'day Adam,
What did you get brought over and how?
I am involved with bringing parts in from the USA and what we tell clients is you will be charged G.S.T. on our services and the value of the items. If the items are made in the USA there is a free trade agreement and there will be no duties charged. If the item/s are made outside the states then there are duties charges.
An example, if you buy a front bar at $300AUD and we charge $150AUD the government will charge you 10%. There are cases where there are docks fee but this is not common and it's not hugely expensive.
If you get items posted there is a no G.S.T. charged up to $1,000AUD. Over that there is the G.S.T.
Contact me if I can help in anyway.
    Cheers
