yeah the silver looks really clean. definately getting rid of the steering wheel for a deep dish one. heres a better shot, the spare wheel well is still blue because im considering getting it cut out and having some flat sheet welded in.

Wheel like mine? I'm considering flat sheeting my boot, rid the stock fuel tank and run a cell. That's something to consider in the distant future. Surge tank minimum.
My car's a mess at the moment. Work in progress, you know how it is.

silver is also handy if you have seam welded you chassis. When the interior is silver as cracks in the welding are easy to see. So all the pro drifters tell me anyway.:p

yeah man thats the wheel i want. i got lanky legs and sit heaps back so a deep dish wheel would be great. i mainly want a flat boot floor so i can put in a rear diffuser that goes from the diff cradle back and span the width between the inside edges of the tyres, do it properly like FIA GT1 cars they look wicked. ahh the memories of a freshly stripped interior....

I used the heat gun and scraper too, but that's because I'm a bit sceptical about the dry ice. Also would need to do the lot in one hit or you'll be buying more ice than you needed to. How did you do it so clean? I've got paint stripper doing it's work as we speak to try and get the rest of the tar crap off. Will so how effective it is in a minute.

Ok, not very effective. It's stripped the paint around it clean of but has barely touched the tar. Going to have to wire wheel it. :(

Have fun with it! Half the enjoyment is in building it, not just driving it. You won't feel that way until it's built though. :p

    A 300ZX with an SR20DET?

    .....dude, just get a 180SX.

Sure stripping out a Z32 may make it as light as a fully laiden 180sx, but strip out the 180sx then.....and you've got something even lighter with a body pretty much the same  as a Z32

Add projector headlights if you must.

An SR20 is a small engine for the Z32 imho

If you REALLY want the Z32 body, then either stick with the VG, or if you want something more familiar to the drift seen, throw a RB in there. But not a 4 banger. That's just wrong.

I note your comment about wanting to be diferent. I just personally think the SR20 in a Z32 shell would be a poor match.

    I totally agree.

I have seen plenty of 300zx drift cars in America running RB engines. Twin Turbo an RB26 or even throw an RB30 in it and do the same. Apparently there is something they do with the 25 heads / 30 block or some crap, Didn't really read it too much but if you are interested there is A LOT of information on the RB motors and the specific combination's and power you can make.

Bare Boned Z32 with an RB26DET(T), if I was going to drift race a Zed thats what I would do.

    Peace :)

i orignaly thought SR20det bcoz i hear you have to cut through fire walls to fit one in does any one know if this is true???...and a RB 25/30 go extremly well my mate is building one now 25 heads are strong and rev hard and sit on a rb30 block with a few minor mods.

No way is loosing a whole liter of displacement a good idea...

RB will fit without tunnel/firewall mods. Zturbo here in Brissy has a RB26 in his Z with a pair of HKS GTSS's IIRC. Goes pretty good :D

A 25/30 will be a real tight fit in the Z, it will probably hit the bonnet at the front. But length wise they are ok, just need a custom rad to sit under the rad support.

If it was me I would chuck in a LSx if the rules allow, I heard they were changing them for the comps, that might only be D1 though.

Has the question of 2+2 or 2 seater been covered for drifting a 300ZX ?

What would be better and how much difference ?

I just drifted around a roundabout by an accident in my 2 seater today. Was epic.

or if you've got the coin, just get a "race/rally only" 350Z. They're ready made sliding machines :D And you'll note them appearing more and more and more in the jap drift scene as they become more affordable.

    it's still a Z ;)
