AUS Zedfest 2010 @ Armidale

Leah and I made it home after 800km 'n' change, after a touch over 10.5 hours... We're a little tired, but still buzzing after such a fun time - and thinking of Lee and Shazza who still have probably another 15 hours traveling to go. We respect you guys so much for going the distance so consistently to share your fantastic company with us all!

Thanks for all of the effort you both put in to plan such an awesome weekend for all of us! It was just wonderful meeting some new members and getting to better know those whom Leia and I have had the pleasure to meet before. No complaints at all, except perhaps that the proprietors needed to "Chill-ax" a bit...

Our first Zedfest was in Cowra back in 2008. At the time, my Zed was (as was usual at the time) off the road. So, rather than miss out, Leah and I rocked on to Cowra in a Land Rover Discovery 2 - one of the sports cars natural enemies (a 4WD). Despite being "Zed-less", we were made as welcome as if we'd attended every Forum event ever held! Because of the amazing friendliness, our decision to attend the Armidale Zedfest was made by lunch time of the second day - a decision we're really glad we made!

Like Ash in her post above, I took away an award from the fantastic Zedfest awards dinner at the Armidale Bowls club last night - the "Encouragement" Award. This award is to recognise the owner of the Zed that has shown the most significant improvement since the last Zedfest (K-Zed can offer a more comprehensive spiel!). So after chatting about it this morning, Karl and I thought it'd be a great idea to post up a few before and after shots to show you all a perspective on all the work that Zedmd, our good friend Peter and I have put into my baby:

This weekend was truly epic! This was my first official zed event with my own zed and it really does feel like I am a member of the forum now. Big thanks to Haylzie-poo and Karl for the event, the tea house and presentation dinner were amazing! Thanks to Chrispy, Ash and Mitch for helping me peel the autoskin off, was definitely a learning experience! Big thanks to Tonto for the entertainment you kept us constantly laughing - scotch and red bull it's got a kick in your throat like having Chuck Norris in your mouth.

And thank goodness Michael's car made it home!!!!!!

 

It also tastes like a combination of win and epic!

 

Man, you People know how to party!!!. After having Dead Zed stop only a few k,s up the Bucketts Way and having to return Home for the Car Float again, It was a tough decision whether to forget about Zedfest or Drag the Zed 400 k,s to Armidale. Im glad we decided on the later. Not only did we finally find People who could figure out what was wrong with Her, But They fixed Her as soon as they saw it arrive on the Float!! I bought the Zed a couple of Years ago, unseen and unknowing what it would require to fix. Since then I have been amazed by the Zed community. We had so much fun this Weekend and will be back for more. Thanks to Everyone who Helped us out and I cant wait to see you all again!!

 

A couple of FIRSTS for me...

First time since I bought the Zed seven-and-a-bit years ago that I've been rostered to work over Easter. I figured that after such a good run it was only fitting that I didn't swap out.

Which leads to the 2nd ...
First Zedfest I've missed since the inaugural in Gilgandra, 2004. Looks like nothings changed... a brilliant weekend with some of the best people around. So sad I couldn't get there. Oh, well. Next one is already booked!

 

We missed you Doug - next time you must come and add some more substance to the grey haired delegation.

Golf results ... And disqualifications ...!!!!

TWO DISGRACEFUL DISQUALIFICATIONS ( a Zedfest first) dominated the fun golf game which some clown decided should be held at some ungodly hour early on Sunday morning ....

PORTS was disqualified on the grounds that, clearly, he was going to win ...

BLACK BAZ copped his DQ for "behaviour unbecoming a Forum member" during the Saturday night fun-tivities ... lol...!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Fest of Zedness, even though I strangely remained mostly sober every night! (I'm losing my touch, must go to Bazemy's school of alcoholism more often).

I did however have hours of fun PMSL at Baz, Cindy and Haley's antics... Damn it was cold in that Thai restaurant!....

Apologies go out to anyone following my car, Kelly's (my car) smoke screen button was dodgy and kept activating whenever I came off-boost... Yes Andymac, it was all my fault...

Other than the smoking issue (turbo seals or valve seals) my car seemed to perform very well, it was it's first real drive since being rebuilt by Eric (DRZ400Y) and I'm very happy.

Highlights for me:

Eric waking up as I finished an overtaking manoeuvre, He absolutely CRAPPED his 'lil' panties! Lightweight.

The alcomoholics on sat night.... How can we ever reach Barry's level???

Cruises... Beautiful weather, cars, scenery, bumpy roads (ouch), wrong turns " BENNY!!!" :bash:

Catching up with awesome old friends and making a few others.






A final well done to Karl, mate your car is stunning! (apart from those things that I pointed out to you.. hahahaha)

We just got home to Sydney after visiting friends in Kempsy on Monday evening.

Hey, it gave us an excuse to drive some of the cruize roads again .

btw, what breed of rear wing do you have? - and i don't mean the shopping trolly wing, but the little stubby wing that's underneith it. "Trust" brand maybe? (trying to locate one for myself. My old Zedsled had one but didn't think to rip it off before i sold it years ago )
