Tyre suggestions for stock wheels

Just got the zed, and she needs 4 new tyres. I don't have a huge budget, and am wondering what people suggest.

I would buy wheels and tyres second-hand if it didn't cost a lot more.

#1 priority is price
#2 priority is performance
#3 priority is more rubber

Currently have 225/50 R16 x4

I would recommend bridgestone potenza re001's. Great tyres, and should fit in under your budget in that size.

 

Great! I used to have some Potenza's years ago on my scorpion. The rubber seemed to be a little soft though. Great handling, just bad life.

Can I expect the same?

dunlop 3000A are awesome tyres. not sure if they do a 16 inch tyre tho.

I'd expect that they'll be similar. but if your alignment is good and you drive normally they should last a fair while.

 

Alignment WILL be good after I get tyres and then get the alignment corrected

Need to get Rear Upper Camber arms (if that's what they are called) also, as you can see the camber is out.

 

I had 3000A's on my zed...fantastic in the dry but i felt they weren't the best in the wet... they definitely do a 16 inch tyre.

 

Stay with the same size? 225/50's R16 are stock?

 

see if you can get a 245 on the rear should fit

 

... 245/45/16 will fit and are available in nexen 3000 .. but you pay for a non stock size ... i have them on the rears .. cost $220 each .. but now a much cheaper source available locally ...

... federal 225/50/16 are not a bad tyre and can be had for around $150-160 (but would need to check what i actually paid for them) .....

prices include a balance but alignment was extra ... around $60.00 for 4 wheels ....

 

245/45/16 all round... Hankook Ventus Prime. Great in the dry... pretty good in the wet.

What's delivery to WA 6172, and what's the forum price?

 

I bought some Toyo Teo's 225/50/16's. For a cheap $160 a pop, the're quite good in dry and wet.

 

I use toyo proxer R1 and they meet all your needs on price and performance.

hey mate, i use maxxis MA-Z1 tyres on mine (18's)

they are cheap enough to not have to worry about destroying them if you want to, but a reasonably soft compound which gives good grip when required (99% of the time).....

maybe that will help get you started on other peoples first hand experience with particular brands

Ok, found some second hand tyres and rims.

The rims are 17/8 Speedy Tarmac.

my recent purchase had tyres branded "westlake" and they are absolute rubbish ....

did a google on them to find that they are made in China and were the subject of one major recall in the USA .... suggest you do the same on those tyres ...
