Hi Everyone, Car is a 2+2 Z32. I'm looking into ways of mounting a pair of rear speakers to get a better sound transfer in the front seats. The standard position for the rears faces the speakers upright so you tend to loose any direct punch from the rears because they don't face towards your head. I'm wondering if there are any creative installations out there for rear speakers that might give me some inspiration for a new rear design. Please post pictures if you have any. Thanks.
I don’t know how to send photos on the forum. If you want to me your email address or phone number i can send you a photo of my setup. Paul

Not sure exactly what you mean by "direct punch" as you'll find the speakers reflect off the rear hatch glass quite well. With that said, the Z32 isn't exactly a great car for audio ergonomics, so unless you've gone and filled the car with dynamat I don't think you'll get the effect you're aiming for. Might be worth simply fitting some new speakers and playing with the rear balance instead.
Hi Ryan, thanks for the reply. Sorry if I have created any confusion by my post. I was hoping to tap into some of the creative guys out there that may have found alternate places to mount the rears to project the sound forward. I'm not an acoustics engineer however have worked in the electronics industry with audio systems for many years. Sound waves tend to get absorbed not reflected that well unless correctly channeled. Sound waves radiate in a linear direction from the source that emits them. I'm sure you have noticed at concerts they direct the speakers towards the audience, not up towards the sky hoping to reflect off the concert enclosure or clouds. And if you have ever stood in front of the speakers of a sound system you'll note that they sound much clearer and better than it does from a distance. Human hearing is enhanced with the feeling sound as well. We make use of the 2 dimensional aspects of sound with subs. We like to feel the lows and hear the highs. If you are lucky up to 20Khz.
Creative, maybe not practical and possibly silly: take the rear seats out and create a speaker bank that facing the front Or mount a slimline blue tooth sound bar where the cargo blind would go across the car
Thanks. There are a lot of possibilities to place speakers in a zed to improve sound transfer to the front of the car however you just need to do some fabrication and mold enclosures into the panels. I hooked up with a guy who builds and fabricates sound systems for show cars. He gave me some good ideas. Also got some great input from other sites.
