Does anybody know where we can get brand new carpet for a 2 seater. I have contacted Knox Auto Carpets and they only have them up to 1989 for $165. I have rang around for custom carpets and they start at $400!! :(

I didn't think you could get them, well in aus anyway. The Knox ones are for a z31.

    $400 doesn't sound that unreasonable.

Did you happen to get a price on OEM ? At the very least it will make $400 custom seem like good value. :)

I've got a brand new 2+2 custom made carpet, awesome quality & identical plush look & feel to original carpet (only new!) but still haven't gotten around to fitting it as it's a bugger of a job. Specalityautocarpets.com.au don't seem to be around anymore, I was put on to them after asking another Z owner who clearly had brand new carpet in his where he'd bought it. Apparently the biggest problem with replacement car carpets is they usually don't have the molded parts right & then simply won't sit, look or feel right. Pretty sure mine was around $400 with freight, 2+2

I picked up a set of 2+2 set from eBay. The seller also had 2+0 options available. I'll see if I can find the link for you. You can get them with their 300zx written in red or white, or just Z logos.

Concept Z Performance in the states also sells them, and if you message them, you can get both RHD and LHD variants.

They're talking about the actual floor carpet itself, not just floor mats.

    lol owwwwwwwwwww, sorry, my mistake.

There was a place in Moorabbin (Vic) that re-uphostered the carpet in my '77 Golf back in 2007. I can't remember the name though. I'll doubt it would help anyway as they aren't in SA.

Zeo, Did you get your carpets?
There's a place in Melbourne called All Car Carpets that are selling 300zx moulded plush carpets for $180 on ebay. You should check it out. Could be for a Z31 but worth a look.

    Cheers

Thanx zedsr4me, I looked and its only for Z's from 1984 - 1989. What a bummer. Everywhere I have been the carpets are only for the Z31. You would think that a car that was made the same for ten years somebody would make a carpet for them!!!!!

    Make a template...

If you can figure out how to seal the cut edge (double stitch with a number 9 needle on a sewing machine will do it) you can remove your carpet and buy the shag pile of your choice and use yours as a template. ;)

Trouble is though, there's a fair few molded sections in the factory carpet which would be very tricky to match... Most likely you'd end up with a massive carpet mat look

    Yeah possibly but...

If you pull it out (this is if it is truly stuffed to start with lol!) and soak it until it's totally flat then make a true template, the body i.e... the tranny tunnel and other bumps and bits, will form the mold for the new one.
You may need to make a few slices for some parts to stay low, as in seat bolt down points etc. This could be helped by little carpet tabs that sit under the washer slightly when you bolt the seat back in.
    Be inventive and creative...
