Z32 How do you remove hatch struts

Hi guys was wanting to fix the rubber surrounding my passenger size quarter window and to do that i need to take off the trim. The trim is held in by the hatch strut and i cant figure out how it is removed. Anyone have advice?

 

You should be able to get a small open end spanner onto it and undo it from the hatch

 

Thanks i managed to do it with a 12mm

 

Easy enough to take off, but can be a royal PITA to put back on, especially if you don't have a spare pair of hands to help.
Be careful not to cross thread them.

 

You can get struts that push on after you've installed the retainer into the hatch, all you have to do is prop the hatch install the retainers, then snap on the cylinder, really easy.

 

Be careful they are bloody heavy without the struts. Make sure you support it very well before getting under itn
