Gates Kevlar Timing Belt Problem

    Reset that Rob, 2mm is too tight. When you rev the engine it can and does close 2-3mm.

    You dont want a repeat of the cam snapping exercise.

    yeah its been on the back of my mind ..

    I'll get the engine started up and recheck it again after everything has settled (have no camgear covers)

    I'll take it to 3-4mm if its still tight.

    Did you have bits of blue stuff stuck on the idler too? I'm not as worried about the loss of colour, but the chunks are a little concerning...

    I'm with you on the chunks on the idler. Does tht not apply extra pressure on the belt tentioner and the timing distance between the two inlet cams?
    I know its only minimal, but changes the balance of the inlet cams.

    There was a seller on here a while back offering the bolts in titanium...

    I'd use stainless before titanium on those. I'm not a big fan of titanium.
