Trying to Clean up the engine bay, cleaning up wires etc etc, noticed the det sensor plug was a little loose and wire were a bit mucked, so i thought i might fix them, then i noticed one wire was not even connected Id most likely have to do a plenum pull to get to the sensor wont I? Will it be ok to drive, if i fill it with premium and not gun it?
I was looking at that earlier and that would be all good and well, but would it be ok to drive? Anyone else on here with it bypassed? and side effects they have noticed from doing the bypass?
ME lol I hate det sensors lol You can drive it I did for like 4 months all that happens is you chew heaps fuel and you run about 5 PSI max of boost I have had a few DET sensors on my car but atm I have the by pass which is real easy to do
Why don't you connect the loose wire ? It was at the connector wasn't it ? Otherwise, as Simon says, start digging or spend 20c on a resistor. If you do fit the resistor, use the good brew. If you don't, use the cheap stuff (and lots of it, cause it will run rich)
why dont u just fix the part of the wire that is broken ? soldier a new bit... u cant get to the det sensor easy...its one hell of a big job... lower plenum needs to be removed and in order to do that well lets see,,, plenum, cams, timing belt, backing plate, etc just to name a few... just fix the part of the wire that is stuffed... if not bypass it untill u have a some plans to go that far into the engine...
yeah... I have had my det sensor bypassed for nearly three years no problems at all. It's a real pain of a job to replace it if you pull the plenum you also have to pull the lower plenum to get to it, or Im pretty sure if you remove the gearbox you can replace it then.
There may be an expaination for that "loose" wire. Have you checked with Consult to see if you really have a sensor problem
no, traced the wire back, only one of two wires are connected i really want to re connect it, as i still have code 21 (i cant seem to work out how to adjust the TPS) gay
