Hi guys Pay day has finally arrived and for once after all the bills I still have money left!, money thats going straight into my TT Z. Anybody got any ideas for a relatively cheap mod that will give me more power?

do a search on boost jets but basically they allow you to run higher boost than stock which = more power.
boost jets are a good way to go I thoroughly checked out boost jets, pro's and cons on as many Z sites as possible and have had them for about 10 weeks. The stock ECU can handle up to 14 psi boost over the standard 9lb stock. The settings are rich anyway, I have no problem with detonation. Go to your nearest Gas welding equipment seller and ask for 1.2 mm gas welding tips, it cost me under $6.00 !! They usually come in a pack of 5. The link for installation is on the TTZ site, it really easy, the hard part is getting the hoses off their pipes, after many years theycan be a bit awkward, I recently did this for another Zed owner and sliced up my hand a bit cause it was still hot and I was in a hurry, but don't let me deter you, take your time, the hoses are easy to find. Cut the welding tips to approx 15mm long and make sure the cut is clean around the hole. This will increase boost noticeably on full and safety modes.. I have also fitted a switch to give me the choice of safety mode or full boost, the safe mode is approx 2-3 lb less boost, back around stock level, this is by splicing into sky blue wire on No 25 of the ECU. I did this mainly to curb my enthusiasm of having a REAL fast motor around town, and have used the cig lighter as the switch as I no longer smoke, so I just flip the lid and hit the lighter for that extra boost when needed. I must add that unless you are running with a stock air intake box and exhaust, you may not get all the advantages you would with the boost compared to having a pod filter and cat back exhaust systems to help the engine breathe those bigger breaths !! (and leth faith it we all like nithe big breaths !! Good Zedding !!:thumbsup:

how exactly do boost jets work? whats the theory behind it *and* what sorta boost increase are you getting with 1.2mm? definately safe on stock motors?
They work by restricting the......>> Amount of pressure that is seen by the wastegate actuator. You should not start increasing the boost in your car until you have an accurate way to measure it, and no, the stock gauge just doesn't cut it. The common consensus is that up to 12psi is perfectly safe on a standard engine/ecu combo, but there are guys around running much higher. Keep in mind that not all engines and turbos are the same, especially with a few miles on them. Engine wear that lowers compression will make the running of higher boost possible, where the same boost in an engine with good compression may ping on hot days. Similarly turbo wear and air leaks from all the small pipes in the engine bay will alter results. I've seen one engine produce 14psi from 1.1mm jets, and I've seen other engines that required .9mm to achieve the same. Get yourself an accurate boost gauge and a range of jets, then start big and work down in size till you achieve your desired boost.
