Last September RedZedMikey took a diversion to the blue side (must happen when you start approaching Chili vintage), and I purchased a blue convertible. Imported in 2003 and owned by a member of the landed gentry since then (not a forum member), the car had an indicated 117000+km, and was in reasonable nick. In Japan it had a TT front bar fitted, a rear wing added to the boot lid, and a decent Apexi Super Megaphone Exhaust fitted. It does need new windows in the top; maybe a complete new top will be the best option. Aside from a few tidy ups such as new mirror glass from Rob260, a RWC mandated new windscreen, and my BBS LMs going on with nice new Yokie AD08s, nothing has been done to her yet. Plans include a full new exhaust with a set of Rob260 headers, a set of coilovers, a Y2K front bar, Y2K rear lights, with Stillen rear bar and skirts. Also to come is a manual conversion, but at this stage no plans for further mods to the NA engine other than dress-up such as polished plenum and TBs etc. Brakes will probably be the Stoptechs off RedZed. Speaking of RedZed she (as per my sig) remains in my driveway needing a new motor, but plans for that are well under way, hope she is rolling again by November with about 320rwkw, and club reg on 'M' plates for modified vehicles, with appropriate engineering sign off. The Apexi exhaust off Bluey will go onto RedZed, and it may well get an AP brakes 6 pot front upgrade; still to be decided. So, a few pics: Some from a Tangcla photoshoot just done, a couple taken when I made my first inspection back in August last year, and a couple when I got her home for the first time. Before you do it, yes, the wheel police were called for the next 3 shots. The previous owner didn't realise there was a left and a right wheel .
I thought Nissan standardised the front bar (all had slots) by 1993. The car could be completely original.
If this is true.... ......why do Nissan advertising brochures picture the NA front fascia on post 1993 NA's? :bash:
Looks great Mikey... But not quite the Chilli vintage. You share the same colour as me, Sapphire Blue Pearl, TK3. Whereas Chilli's Zed is the darker blue (that also came with the blue interior in some cars). All that aside, its blue and not red, so at least its a step in the right direction
nice to see another tidy vert on the forums. maybe they are becoming are popular as the cars (and the owners) age. look after it.
Nothing wrong with owning a "Vert" in any colour, well except maybe some weird fluro pink or similar . Hmmm might come and steal that interior, saves me buying a new one then
Very nice addition to the garage Mikey, love the blue too. Wing looks like a stillen sport, fairly hard to come by!
Not quite correct! The front fascia's on 1997 models were the same as all other models since 1989. TT's were fitted with the TT fascia, NA's were fitted with the NA fascia. You are correct in that the so called 2K spec fascia first appeared on the 1998 model.
Red verts go faster. Mine should soon when I get around to putting the tt engine together and putting it in Yours looks very nice though
When the new motor goes into RedZed, the motor currently in that car will be checked out to see if it is worthy of rebuild for the vert. I'm almost hoping it isn't!
We must forgive the "Young"(there is so much that they do not know or understand).:rolleyes2::rofl::br:
At the end of the run before they went to the 2k front bar, nissan was putting the tt front bar on both na and tt's.
