Its that time again where my zed requires another tune. This time im looking at ditching my emanage blue and putting in a twin tune system into my stock ecu. What i want to know is who has had theirs tuned where? im looking to get a qualified mechanic who has some lengthy experience with tuning. Cost isnt really an issue as i want a good safe tune with roughly the same number i have already got. I think speedworks? tune zeds, cant remeber who i was talking to(maybe zweett) saying he had his done there? Also i hear hyperdrive do a lumpyrom? who else around perth is worth talking to? opinions wanted, good and bad feedback welcomed. (And please dont say pzp)
Ive heard good things about Lumpy at hyperdrive. Heard good things about Mick at Ovaboost. Not too sure who is working at speedworks now. I had no problems with AJs tuning abilities if he's still there, it was just the rest of his work that was shit, but good tune. Avoid Slako at West Racing. Has no clue and just breaks engines.
talk 2 Grant at per4manz. he will point you in the right direction. he built lumpys moter with the custom plenum and crazy front mount turbos.. tom is a guru tho!!!
Not sure what you mean by that but I will give you a few tips... Don't base your decision on what someone else says are a good tuner. Go to the workshops and ask how they tune (i.e. power runs or using ramp mode). Also ask how they listen for knock and what safety margins they put in place. I know a few tuners out there that'll ramp up the ignition timing to get the figures you want (it'll be pinging its tits off), then they'll back it off to a reasonably safe level, then give it back to you. It's just wrong IMO. Also ask for printouts of AFR and torque (with a scale that really shows the torque curve).
Why would you want to ditch the AFM? MAP and AFM's have pros and cons, AFM has some advantages over MAP's and vice versa. IMO, it's not worth changing "just because you can".
personally i think its worth keeping the afm, microtech runs off the angle of your tps...no o2 either
