Yea man they undo crank bolts only if there are torqued up properly in the first place. have had a few that i couldn't even break with a breaker bar, once i did get it our was full of Loctite
unless the question is useless stargate information most people will be more helpful than me.. did you know in the background of every episode there is some one holding a giant oil rig shifting spanner...
im going to have to pull out of this. sorry. got to pay off my hoist before i buy this.. it was either this or the ally spash shield.. and they won. might have to buy it at non GB price which will make it about $5 more expensive as i wont need to pay for postage.
I have the bosch 18v rattle gun and some times I can't undo things with it, It will be the same with this one only the bosch one has 265nm vs Hitachi 220nm.
I'm having concernes about the lack of torque too, I think I might keep saving and get something in the 300+ range.
There awesome peter once you start using it you won't go back. The 300+ ones are big and bulky and you'll find you will start snapping shit doing it up. I've had mine for a few years now and its brilliant, if this one dies I'll be straight down to get another one
The main thing I want an impact wrench for is the tougher stuff like suspension bolts and crank pulley bolts and the like so I'm thinking I'd be better served with a big one. For smaller stuff I'd be likely to snap I'm happy doing things by hand anyway. Will give it some more thought.
its not just for the hard stuff man... also for all the small easy stuff... like pulling a plenum off is only 8+ bolts, easy but still 5 mins of wrenching... or 15 seconds of rattling.
Not sure if saving 5 minutes of my time is worth $300, I'm not a baller like you that could afford to book out entire cinemas when I was a kid...
i know you wish you were a balla, a little bit taller so then you could call her... its not 5 mins.. its 5 mins on 20 jobs = like... 17 mins saving
Just bumped into this thread. How do these compare up against decent air tool setup? Power wise ? I see the major benefit is portability. Certainly theres been a few times where I just wanna pull my hair out under the car unable to budge some bolts here and there.. grrr!
due to only a semi-interest i wont bother with the gb... those who do want one i can put them in touch with where i bought mine and through this guy. But we wont get it cheap enough to make it worth running the gb
my personal opinion is these are not as strong as a air rattle gun. but if your comparing prices then... a decent rattle gun your looking at about 200. plus a good compressor which are not cheap say $500. but for convenience i would get one of these.. not as a everyday use but for small jobs because i wont need to load the compressor up.. i do have a good rattle gun. but nothing compares to portability.
