I had my engine rebuilt, top and bottom, had the block bored to first over size .5 heads rebuilt, I removed and refitted the engine, cost me around 8k parts(I supplied the parts) and labor to get the thing back in a plastic bag.
That is VERY reasonable IMO, considering it looks like a drive in, drive out, tuned option. No question who to blame if something goes wrong, none of the builder says it is a tuning issue and the tuner saying it is a build issue.
When you're outlying a significant amount of money on a rebuild it could be worthwhile making sure the rebuilder has a proven record in providing this type of service.
I told them I was looking for approximately 300-320 rwkw on 98, will this build deliver this? Are you guys sure about the nitto parts, before I go and ask them about it?
Looking at the nitto website (http://www.nitto.com.au/index.html) can't see any products for the VG30. Their high volume RB26 oil pump is pretty well known & it looks like they only make a crank collar for the RB also
If your not running big turbos and injectors why bother rebuild ? Unless your engine is cactus , why valve springs and retainers ! Seems like a mix match of parts
I got 300kw on 98 without a rebuild. As mentioned, if your motor isn't low comp or buggered, keep the Nissans inside. Save the money for bolt ons to get to where you want to go.
Don't need a rebuild for 300kw, if your engine's knackered just get another second hand jobby. Spend the money on high flow turbos, 5-600cc injectors, bigger SMIC's and Nistune. The rest on coke and hookers! (don't forget to invite me hence I just saved you all this money )
Price doesn’t sound too far off but as specified Make sure it’s a shop that knows what they are doing or at least has a few high HP engines done but ideally VG. Alarm bells ring when parts quoted don’t exist for the vg30 I’m sure most of us are still on factory oil pump (albeit new ones) making over 400rwkw. Also don’t need the valve springs upgraded unless camed and than they should be matched to the cams. Also get wiseco parts for the bottom end and shave $1000 if you do go that part. Can still build a 1000hp bottom end. As some have said, Get some 2860, e85 goodies and will make 320rwkw easily
