Mark at MRC has done the first-dyno run (i.e. initial "safety boost") of his VH45-TT (twin-turbo) LPG-fueled R31 Skyline (using a Z32 manual gearbox) at 4.5 psi boost with a misfire at 3500 to 4500 rpm and made 275rwkw. He is expecting to make 350 to 400 rwkw at 15 psi with 750cc injectors as the current ones are nearly out. Sorry to use an overlay image as the image I received is a sms attachment (but zoom works pretty well)
doesn't make sense to me, if the current LPG injectors were maxing why wouldn't he just drill them out? The current limit is roughly where stock petrol injectors (370cc) would max out Still interesting, is he going to run two LPG tanks? I've managed to score a stainless LPG tank that flows 550hp
I like the torque of that VH45-TT. Twice the power of the VG30DETT up to 3500rpm, and ahead up to 5000rpm with next to no boost.
Not using LPG but Petrol My first post was incorrect (his original intent was to use LPG) but now using petrol only. So not using LPG but Petrol.
No TT for me. No TT for me ... due to time, money, and complexity. Supercharging would be a easier option from a plumbing perspective.
Torque is impressive but Torque is impressive but as some have stated before the 310rwkw curve illustrated is not a good example to use, so please don't put too much into comparing the V6-TT example to the V8-TT because it will only going to result in the usual flamings.
Theoretically, I would expect a final power curve of something like Theoretically, I would expect a final power curve of something like this ... remembering that this is purely theoretical hypothesizing.
You try and fit two turbo's next to the VH in the zed without using a 9" or gas axe Only place to fit them is in the SMIC position and then deal with a nightmare of pipeing, rear mount dodgy Mustang style, or one down the bottom of the pass side, and one where the alternator fits, but then the alt would have to sit up top like on the VH41 and then the bonnet wouldn't shut Even with my bonnet bulge it wouldn't have a hope in hell of fitting. Big single down on the pass side is the only way IMO. A t04z would fit and make good power with SFA lag.
And to think that was once my crappy motor And to think that was once my crappy motor... absolutely disgusting inside and out. It is amazing how strong these engines are. I like the twin throttle system; I believe they are RB20s. Pity the Z32 does not have the side space of the R31. I think the easiest way to boost a VH45 for a zed maybe be via supercharging as all that plumbing.
I like how they moded the intake, smart thinking. Its kind of comparing apples to oranges with the v8 and v6. Of coarse its better, its newer tech with 2 more cylinders and more displacement.
Until you start talking about top fuel dragsters, V6's can walk V8's all day with the right setup... More isn't always better.
