Has anyone had any first hand experience with Water/Meth injection on a Z , Good or Bad what were your results ?
I've been looking into this lately as well. Looking at turbo'ing the VH with a big single and there is very little room to run 'cooler pipework and was thinking of just going from compressor outlet to throttle with meth injection for boost over ~6psi. Should make about 450hp on 4 psi hehe. There are some nice kits out there, but they are a bit pricey... I think Andy did some fiddling with the VG though, pre-turbo injection too.
I thought Andy used it on his porsche not the zed? I think 'bolts engineering' is running it... I too have been looking into it recently
is the EGR ports on the bottom of the upper plenum (near the throttle bodies) a good place to be squirting mist in?
Type water meth injection Into search and you will get 11 replies, been discussed at length and some good replys there.
Its a good thing. Short term. I wonder what the oxidisation would do long term?. You cant really run straight ethanol. i dont think.
I have been running water and methanol for a couple years now on my 300ZXTT it helps me with advanced timing and increased boost. We proved this advantage on a dyno here in Newcastle, running back to back runs with methanol on and off. The only issue I have found is that the jets have a tendency to get blocked.
what happens when it gets blocked? u automatically transition into a safety map? how quick is that transition? any sense of risk or danger there?
i'd imagine u'd want one in each runner, like ur fuel but then if one was blocked, u'd be detonating in that cylinder and perhaps not knowing about it
You could just run E85 and get all the advantages and none of the disadvantages. Cant wait till it becomes more freely available.
Aquamist water inj Aquamist is the best out there but it is costly. Do not buy it locally as it will cost you double. Look on ebay for there UK resellers and it will cost you about $1000 if you buy it here $1800 plus but this is for there top of the line one not a basic one witch is $500-$600 mark. Cheers Mark.
Aquamist info on different kits. Hi Guys A bit of info on there systems. $1150 Aust was under $1000 but the dollar is all up and down at the this time. Still cheaper to buy out of the UK. Cheers Mark. SYSTEM 2S : ERL Aquamist System 2S Water Injection Kit A fully-mappable water injection system, pre-pressurized system, equipped with diagnostic circuitry, able to detect blocked water jets and abnormal operation problems. This system is boxed with all relevant installation information. P/N 806 005. Which System? All the kits are stand alone systems, they can be fitted to any normall aspirated, turbo or supercharged engine. ERL have three versions of water injection system. SYSTEM 1S is triggered by boost only, the trigger point is determined by an adjustable pressure switch installed in the manifold (3-30psi). SYSTEM 2C is designed for users with their own custom ECU, mainly for racing cars. System comes without electronic controller. SYSTEM 2D is designed for users with fuel injected cars who want the water injection rate to increase with fuel injector duty cycle. The system injects water progressively as the engine demands increase, without the necessity of mapping. SYSTEM 2S (this one) comes with an electronic controller (MF2), mappable between 2000-9000 RPM at 1000 intervals, load signal is either supplied by an adjustable pressure switch or a MAP sensor (not supplied) for a true 3-D mapping, water flow is progressive with pressure. The water line is pre-pressuised (adjustable between 4-8bars) at start up, flow quantity is regulated by a solenoid valve via MF2. We list all these systems - see in our EBAY shop or contact us. Previously the car was tuned to run without water and methanol so it would run fine if it was blocked. With the tune I have now It would ping if the injectors get blocked and I was running 20psi. However since I have changed to running demineralised water the jets haven't been blocked (about 5 months now). I only run 15psi on the road so there is no chance of ping.
