Hi, I want to know if it is possible to install or fit airbags (passenger + driver) into a 300zx, and what sort of costs would be involved. Or do I require the '96 model. Safety is a concern for me.

I believe the american zeds came with a passenger airbag in the very late models, but being LHD and all I dont know how you'd get that to work. I know people have put later model airbag steering wheels onto early model zeds so i spose its doable, just have to get all the sensors wired up... which would probably be a major PITA. Just invest in a crash helmet;)

No way you could retro fit one legally.

Buy a late model (93+ ?) or a convertible with drivers side airbag already fitted.

If you're that worried about safety then go and get a small european hatchback with 15 airbags and seatbelt tensioners.

I don't think that a pass side airbag would do much in a zed. You sit so far from the dash i can't see your head going anywhere near it.

And I wouldn't feel safe retrofitting airbags into a Zed. Buy a series 3 Zed or don't plan on crashing.

The '96 was the only car they released with passenger side airbag. SO hard to find a '96.. let alone a '96 you actually want :p

I dont think even the 96 ozspecs or 96+ jspecs have passenger side airbags.. only drivers...

I was under the impression that is why '97+ zeds can't be imported.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it just cant happen. Also sounds useless given the fact your head will not impact with the dash what so ever. Race seatbelts seem like the way to go :p

Yep, I had race harnesses in the last zed and have another 2 sets to go into the new one once the roll cage is in and mod plated

    I love them :D

Do they increase the safety in the event of a crash? I hear the seatbelts are already mounted to the frame work regardless.

Probably not, and if not installed correctly can actually be more dangerous.

put a brick under the accelerator pedal then. helps maintain safer speeds as well as improve fuel economy.
