I double clutch with my 'rolla all the time. All the synchro's are fooked so I have to I'm getting good at it actually
for the record, this thread wasnt about advising street racing and when i said 0-100kmh - it was taking off on the freeway to the speed limit. the people i bumped into were in logan brisbane. i dont like some of the hoons there, they see the zd and dont leave me alone. Mainly turbo VL's and r33 skylines. The Z'ds there seems to be the only sensible drivers lol
Ah so!!! If you try glipping stick like penis and thrusting forward wiffout crutch. You be nofer Wan Car.
I find that double clutching from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd in the zed helps for a smoother gear change, but i only do this in the mornings when the car is stone cold, unitl the oil gets going in the box. I can change gears without double-clutching only requires a bit more effort, once the car is warm it chnages gears like a hot knife through butter.
Neither does he(but he does know how to "double clutch")and he also knows that it is very bad for synchromesh gearboxes.:zlove:
Can you please explain "Granny Shifting" Ask any REAL racer, I wanna ask the guy who parked his Commodore in a roof the other day, he'd know.
The night I went it was chock o block with iCER and his mates ... it was a very small cinema ... in fact it was more like a peep show. :W:
Why Thankyou Sir. Benny Hill would have had them on the floor laughing with that one.:rolleyes2: Just goes to show that some people appreciate a little humour. Just a shame that you have to spell it out to the others though. Cheers Kerry
By granny shifting they are meaning just shifting normally. Clutch in, Gear change, Clutch out. I know a lot of 1/4 mile racers both illegal and legal, none of them double clutch. In fact the only people I know whom DO double clutch are some truck drivers that I know and thats only because for particular trucks you HAVE to double clutch. In the "fast and the furry-assed" they are 1/4mile racers. If you took the time to double clutch in a 1/4 mile race you would loose precious revs and precious time while the other dude whom is "granny shifting" would be making you eat his dust (assuming he can drive)
ah try driving a 1964 mini and tel me that double clutching is bad. now once your moving you can change with out a clutch quite fine with no damage to the box, but its definately not fast if you don't want to save the drive line. the way you change with out a clucth is smoothly and rather good(to say perfect) timing, its always much easier changing up with out a clutch then down, cause the revs are naturaly droping and its much easier to find the perfect shift point, where as going down you have to go up to met the shift point. the way to do it is when thier is no load on the gear, either accelerating or deccelerating, and ofcourse every vehicle is different so you have to know that vehicle.
