Started my car tonight, sounded fine, drove down 200metres (literaly) to my mates place, didnt go over 2000rpm. Sat there for 20seconds warming up and started to hear a wiered sound... turned off the car, and turned it back on and it made a sound that made me heart shrivel....
Sounded like grinding metal as it cranks, starts normally but with a BAD scraping sound... comming from near right hand side turbo...
Im thinking starter motor?? Shat myself and called a towy, its currently parked outside my mechanics shop who will look at it tomorrow...

Can anyone tell me what it might be and if im looking at a hefty bill??

    Thanks, Elie.

    ...and yes i have searched.

If your lucky, Powersteering pump is either completely out of fluid or shagged. Could be your starter motor or flywheel possibly. Doubtful it would be the turbo itself, it wouldn't start to make a terrible noise until the engine had fired. Could also be a main bearing, but you didn't want to hear that.

NO i definately dont want to hear that... lol... welll.... to be honest, if it was, rebuild time... so i dont mind, well i do...lol

nah i think its the starter, broken off the gearbox, and the gear is spinning and scraping and bashing the flywheel, its at the mechanics now, lookin to see what we doin...
