I've been talking to a few people recently about the Shift at Will and there seemed to be some interest. The SAW is an add-on or replacement for your automatic transmission controller that gives you 'flappy paddles' for your Z with full control over the gear change. See more information at http://www.ess-racing.com I've been in contact with the manufacturer and they have agreed to reduce the price for a group buy. At today's exchane rate it's: RRP 8500SEK $1370AUD 3 - 4 units 7500SEK $1215AUD 5 or more 7000SEK $1130AUD The final price will be determined by the exchange rate at the time of the order - it's pretty favourable presently and I hope it stays that way. I will be accepting expressions of interest (serious ones, like I have the money and I'm ready to buy) for the next 2 weeks. I'll then decide if we have enough people to proceed and collect the payment in the following week so I expect to be placing the order the week of the 6th July. Thanks Garry
wow what an interesting product. still prefer a floor shift though. but would make a handy tool and would be far less mucking around compared to manual conversions. whats the legalities of having such a unit installed in aus? pure race only vehicles?
Last chance to get a SAW I've recently had this email from ESS Racing: I certain that ongoing support will continue be new ones may not continue to be available. If you are interested in get one, you may not much time left. Garry
wow. I like that, and i am guessing that will work for auto and manual both cars?? I got Auto it will be cool
how can it work on a manual??? its a shift at will kit, and in a manual, when your willing to shift you clutch in, select the gear, and release clutch, how would flicking a paddle change gears for you?
I am intrested and love this product, but that last line in the email put me off. Its not a good bussiness. To be honest it sounds a bit dodgy. 1. First he is in sweden 2. what about after support, what if its faulty etc? plus who know how to install it in aus? sorry mate not trying to close down ur GP
There's quite a few already sold in Aus over the years. No one has reported any problems, both with the purchase and with the units. As for installation, read the instructions. Most people do it themselves or if you're not confident, most auto-electricians will do it for you. I did read how much someone was charged once but I can't remember - couple of hundred I think. garry, forum member "red dwarf" is a great proponent of these kits ... installed his some 2-3 years ago and had considerable contact with the swedish inventor .... was very positive about the advice, information and assistance he received at the time and subsequently from the inventor ... (whom, i think visited Australia at some point ..) ... and he was full of praise for the kits ... ( but he has not been on the forum for some time ...) there should be good coverage of the kit on previous threads/posts by RD (who is a top bloke ..!!!) from memory, at the time, the cost of install by an outsider was around $150.00 .... .. i was pretty interested at the time ... but my usual, inherent procrastination took over ......
SAW also works with the Q45-VH45 gearbox SAW also works with the Q45-VH45 gearbox, only requiring a new shift map to correspond to the different internal gearing ... the V6 NA & TT are not appropriate and bounce against the rev limiter on the 1st to 2nd gear change under hard acceleration. For the V6 NA & TT you will need to load the shift map that corresponds to your diff type. An external gearbox oil cooler is also a good idea to be included with any SAW kit install as the kit operation is A LOT sporty in feel then the OEM even in automatic mode... making the gearbox feel light & revy compared to the OEM's muscular ( strong but bulky & slow ) feel. Hmmm, should I buy another SAW kit, then I would have to buy a second zed :zlove:
OK. Sorry being quiet for a while but I'm back in the country again now. We have 4 interested so far: 1. BlueZ 2. Just-Zed 3. ZedBack 4. Louie I'll leave this open for EOI for one more week, then I'll move forward to ordering. Garry
If my gearbox was not in need of a rebuild, I'd be in. I'll be in Sweden, basically round the corner, in two weeks, so I might see if I can catch him then.
why why start something and don't follow through -- what's happening with these gb's ? they never seem to happen and if they do things go wrong
Its happening. You'll be getting a PM shortly. The order will go in as soon as payment is finalised. Garry
