The GOR has in past been held on two differing times of the year... November and in recent times April. With the weather being a major factor in who attends and who dosent its time we probably sat down and collectively decided on a perminate date that would suit everyone and hopefully the weather god herself !

November dates would still be held in somewhat cooler conditions but rain isnt such a problem

December is the month we all suddenly panic about Xmas and how much $$$ we have to spare !

January is rush hour for the GOR..... its population easilly quadruples and the figure starts on Boxing day !

Febuary is the month where most other car clubs do their thing and although the weather is always good the traffic is hell ! It does ease off about the end of Feb as school calls familys back home.

March is the time we get to see the weather changes moving our way... its also a tad quieter as most ppl have gone back home.

April was good last year, not so friendly this year !

    On a personal note......
the last w/end in November or first w/end in December is a good area :D
as is last w/end in Febuary or the 1st w/end in March.
Better still ...... Use both dates and have a start of the summer run and an end of summer run

    BigCol That's what she said...

From years of driving the GOR, December & Jan are out. Too much traffic. Can be stuck in 2kph traffic for over an hour just to get through the Angelsea roundabout. Not fun.

Any date in November would be best. If we did it again in Nov, we could get back to the yearly big cruise at that time of year.

Im interested in coming bout would prefer nice hot weather seasons. November is probably the easiest month for me to make the GOR, then Febuary and then March. Just set a date and hopefully i want have other committments already set for next year.

I still reckon all major annual events should be on a calendar worked out a full 12 months ahead of schedule. Good work Kingy :)

I can understand not going if it's going to rain, as that increases risk of accident, but as for too hot and too cold it wouldn't bother me.
In QLD we just go go go :D

November for me as well, and rain like yesterday is NOT fun. Even on the run back to Geelong I had to slow down to 98kmh in places :rolleyes: lol

Another vote for November (any weekend) or the very start of December, probably only the first weekend.

    November seems good to me.

Might be worth trying to keep it at the same weekend each year too, if it were always (for example) the third sunday in November each year it might make planning a bit easier and help get bigger turnouts.

Thats what I'm aiming for :D
& I'd like a date that is easy for everyone to remember on a yearly basis, something along the lines of .......
Its always on the last weekend of November ....

I have other events that I cant recall the exact date but I know that on the last saturday in October there's an event I havent missed for many years !, its like Bathurst, we all know its the first Sunday in October ! Melbourne Cup is the first Tuesday in November etc etc etc
:lame: but its an easy way to remember it !! GOR should be the same

Have you got any events listed so far that may interfere with a November date on the forums calendar ?
    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I'd also like to do the GOR run twice a year, totally differant styles of runs tho
one to "start the season off" (us Victorians tend to hibernate during winter)&
an end of summer run, again closing the season of for hibernation !!!
Timed right, there could be a 'gap' of say 4 months between the runs, this would give us 2 major events, making it posiable for everyone to attend atleast one run or both runs.......it also allows us to have a "fall back" date should one be cancelled.
This would be entirely up to members wants and needs. :stupid:

I have two other runs I'm working on at the moment, one would be a central Vic cruise ( goldfields and Halls gap ) and the other ......... well, for now I'll call it "Super Challenge Cruise", neither of these cruises would interfer with any dates we select for the GOR run, but I'd like the GOR date set so I can work on the other 2 ideas

At this early stage..... I'm favouring the last w/end in November & the last w/end in March for the GOR..... that gives us a 4 month gap between the 2 if....... IF we decide to do it twice a year !

I would rather it were a huge event just once a year, twice a year would reduce that feel I think.
