Okay, I've finally decided to re-install my FMIC (it is a pzp-style side by side fmic). I've had my fmic on for a while, but it was installed incorrectly and as such, turns out I was suffering from severe boost leaks (only noticed it after i re-installed it, car goes much harder). Here's how it used to look: Because of the dodgy install, the front bar could not be secured properly and thus hang like this (look at the very sides of the front bar): Now with the finished product: As you can see, i've had to trim the front bar a little (will get some touch up paint to hide the raw front bar). Also, if your number plate is on the bottom piece, it will be beneficial to move it to the top, as I did (look carefully in both pictures, the plate is in different positions. Of course you can just move the number plate to the side, but I was aiming for an efficient look that doesn't attract police attention. Yes, I still have to make up some brackets to hold the foggies, but it's a much cleaner look. (side by side fmic newbies take note; it *HAS* to be on the angle as pictured, it can sit perfectly straight as in my first install, but the piping will be retarded and you *WILL* have boost leaks just like I did) -Kirill
Cheers mate, yeah it was a lot of mucking around with the piping to get everything to line up nicely and properly, and by the end of it I was asking myself why didn't I just go for the smics? Still, these pzp-style fmics are floating around here and there for a bargain price, so I thought i'd chuck this up as a (crude) guide for others. -Kirill
The side by side FMIC is the best set up for the z32 . The only thing I don't like about the PZP style is the fact that it sits at an angle.(not a straight through airflow on core ) But LOOKING GOOD..
looks good mate, i also have the same front mount on mine. did you have to cut your reo-bar? as i did on mine. i did int bother putting the fog lights back in either, its not like we have much fog round here, even on the way to work at 5:00 in the morning theres no fog.
Yeah man, the reo bar does not fit, so I just removed it for now. Didn't want to cut it, as I like the idea of being to go back to stock if required. I'll probably make up some brackets to hold foggies in.. -Kirill
All you do is follow the instructions !!! they tell you to cut out the bottom lip on the reo bar and then it fits like a glove. I've just fitted mine and it looks hot as :zlove:
Ah silly me, didn't read the instructions that did NOT come with it! Did you have to cut a lot of the reo bar? -Kirill
hey man , even if you do cut it up its all good ... mine has been chopped up as well .. if you go with chopping it up make sure you wear appropriate protection , the fibers in that thing are shit...... not to hard to do ..........
