Hey there I dont own a 300zx but i do however have a z32 TT gearbox that im putting behind my sr20 powered s15 and thought id ask here as surely someone may have come across something. Before putting the box in, id like to know has anyone come across any rebuild kits before that have like seals, bearings and syncros? Im not sure if it needs it as the seller told me it only has 66 xxx kms on there but i wouldnt mind freshing it up for peice of mind. any help would be good thanks john
I haven't seen a rebuild kit as such. There may be something around, practically the same gearbox as the R33 GTS-T/GTR. The only real differance is the bellhousing. R33 aftermarket gearsets fit.
not looking at changing the gears as im only chasing around 400-450 rwhp and i think the z box is up to task. just want to fresh it up. i just found a place over in theusa that seems to do kits so ive emailed them. its a waiting game now...
where are u from? i no a company in Minto that designs and makes the conversion plates, pretty price but heaps nice work, PM me if you want more details
he's from here in Perth, If the gearbox is shit I may be interested in swapping you a good'un for the 6 speed you have lying around
What are you gonna use a little plastic 6 speed for? You'd kill that the first time you dumped the clutch with the V8!
Haha yeh i saw it on antilag but chris is right, theres no way it would handle the V8 I'm putting in the Z, otherwise i would LOVE a 6 speed
hey mate there are rebuild kits available from the states for them. comes with all bearings, gaskets and a whole bunch of other stuff. around 500 from memory.
Rebuilding... If it's a manual box your rebuilding...my suggestion to you is to whack some Billet Alloy Shift Forks into the box. It might sound like it's over the top, but with my experience of g/box massacres... it is the best thing I did. It'll cost an extra $1400 for the shift forks alone, But seriously worth every penny. Just my 2c. Cheers Fate
yeah mate got an email back this morning, 471 for the kit including all syncros, bearings and seals plus 75 dollars shipping. as with the forks, i never heard of people braking them before in the z box?
