Here are some pics of a Z drifting at Fuji Speedway last month, it was in the non competition group of cars that were drifting during the lunch time break so it was probably one of the cars that didn't make it through qualifying to the top 32. Sorry guys I don't know anything about it other than what you can see in the pics, the pits did not allow public access so I couldn't find out more. Sounded like a VG though....

Also, while we're keeping it Japan Z related, I was waiting in line at a Yodobashi Camera store checkout forever and next to me was a TV playing some kid's TV show. During a computer generated robot formation sequence that seemed to take damn near 10 minutes and featured mostly ambulances and construction vehicles I spotted a Z! So I left the line (big commitment given how long I'd been waiting there!) and hunted down the toy section. Behold, the mighty "Core Striker" (that's the name of the Z in the show from what I can make out)

The toys (and show?) are called Rescue Force, the guy's name is Rescue Force R1 and if I'm reading the katakana right his powers include "Power Sheer" and "Power Beaker" or "Power Beakle" (like that makes any more sense). Ah Japan, you never disappoint....

You also get a card with each toy with a Power rating and other stuff so I think it's like Pokemon... if I understood how the hell Pokemon worked.

Also since I was breaking my self imposed ban on buying more Z32 toys since I don't own the car anymore, I bought these:

These SOBs are so hard to find, they come in 'secret boxes' which means when you buy them it's a closed box and you don't know which of the dozen or so possible toys you'll get, so if you want one of them specifically you have to keep buying the damn things and opening them until you get the right one. I found a place in Akihabara that sells them out of the box and packaged like this so you can pick and choose.

    And the 300ZX can TALK!!

Haha I did a search on Rescue Force and found this!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiWiyMDvqzE

I challenge ANYONE from the West to watch this and not laugh. Near the end the girl giving what is considered to be an offensive gesture in some cultures as her salute in particular got me. Were kid's shows really this lame when I was young? Aside from talking the only special ability the sentient Z seems to have is to engage the handbrake at inappropriate times like when driving on a track....

Tragically, Core Striker gets upgraded to Core Striker Max (a 350Z) in part 2 so maybe the Z32 only lasted the first 21 episodes? Still, the 350Z does a standing quarter in 3.2 seconds and 600kph so I guess that's quick :)

Hey stranger! Good to here you are still buying zed toys. It makes it a much easier transition to buying a real one again! Found any rare real car bits?

How are things going over there?

Things are pretty bad right now, with the economic climate and the exchange rate losing about 40% against the yen business is slow as no one is buying cars or they're too expensive, and my living costs have gone up by 40%, so it's pretty rough.

    I miss all you guys.

Hey Ben, good to see you are still around.

Some nice finds, those headlight rubbers remind me of mine before I taped them in. I really should get around to doing something more permanent with them.
