hey everyone, just curious, what oil do you use and what is it ruffly priced at for 5ltrs? and yes LOWZX, dont flame i tried to search it but i couldn't find anything about it. cheers
Black and gold from woolies Mate with in the last 4 months I have used motul/penzoil/penrite/titan ect and I have noticed no diufference all the same shit imo just when ur engine cooks they smell different
lol, cause next weekend, my uncle is gonna teach me how to service and tune it, and have a look at my slight idol problem, so ive gotta work out what oil to put in :zlove:
Amsoil, wouldn't use anything else now. Totally elliminated the lifter tick I had been trying to fix for couple of years. This stuff gets in where others can't and provides very stable temps under racing conditions too. Got it through bloke on here in traders section that I can't remember now (sorry). I've used a few types and nothing comes close.
kinda depends on the state of your engine. Old and worn out, use a slightly thicker oil, healthy and good compression/seals use a thinner oil (less strain on engine, revs better, better 'power'). I use motul...whichever is the one just below 300v...as it's too darned expensive. But yeah there's not much you can really stuff up. i think i use 10w40 from memory...garage is 10 steps too far away alas
cheers man yea i just got told by mafia-zed the same thing, he said amsoil 15/50, apparently i cant get it from super cheap or autobarn or repco.... unless anyone noes of another place round hoppers crossing, werribee lol thankx DUB :zlove:
i just ordered a bottle from street to strip, ~$100 with filter delivered overnight to my door :zlove:
ahhh very cool man, yea ill do that for sure. what one do you recommend for every day use, not racing purpose ? > 10-40w High performance Motor Oil 100% Synthetic 5 Litre Container ? AUD $79.00 > 20-50w Series 2000 Severe Service Racing Oil 100% Synthetic 5 Litre Container ? AUD $89.00 http://www.street-to-strip.com.au/our-products/oil.html TY SO MUCH MARTIN
That's him! Good service and much cheaper than the Redline I used for years that was over twice the price. I'm currently using 100% Synthetic Series 2000 Racing Oil, SAE 20W-50 (TRO)
I wouldn't use a 0 weight oil on anything but a fresh built motor with lower than spec'd tolerances or a new car motor that specifies it. It's too thin by far, your doing more damage running it than using a no frills brand. 5 weight minimum, preferably a 10 or 15, a 20 if your motor's getting old and a little worn.
Repsol 10-40 full synthetic here. Good stuff, but so is alot of other brands like everyone else has mentioned. I only use it cos I can get it ridiculously cheap. Ben
hmm ive been using Castrol GTX3 for my last 4 services. 5.5 Ltr bottle cost about $26 dollars from supercheap. Ive had no problems with the oil and everything runs fine.
There's a place that sells Amsoil south of the river, it cost me around $75 for 4L, unfortunately I don't remember where I did locate him via google though.
sorry to hi-jack... but is that edge thing good.. its the one on tv with the 2 mustangs running on a dyno and one blows... i forgot the brand but is it any good?
Well I haven't used amsoil or redline so can't comment on them but they sound like the business, I've used Castrol edge (off the add) 10w60 though, it offers good over temp protection. I sprung a leak and overheated using this oil and motor is fine.... but I dunno why these threads keep coming up ... its all common sense really, I don't believe searching "oil" came up with no results for the author of this thread, its been covered millions of times
Castrol Edge is very good oil. In fact its on special at Stupid Cheap this week for $29 and is a bargain at that price. Try to get at least 10W as the 5W I got last time was too thin. I have also been using The Valvoline Synthetic that Red Zed Mikey has been selling. I am very happy with that.
