    I know. I'll buy a $40,000 1.3 litre deisel turbo and

get twice the mileage per litre of fuel. Now that's $40,000 divided by $1.68 - should break even about year 2035.

Just drive the zed and keep up the maintenance - you'll be miles ahead in the long run - and get there a lot quicker too.

I guess I can't really complain, after reading some of the pricing from around the country. I just filled mine up tonight, and it was $1.49 per litre, Shell V Power, and on the long weekend too,

Think youselves lucky. We pay around ?1.15 a litre of 99 ron stuff over here.

    Thats around $2.5 aus dollars.

Costs me about ?60 to fill up and I get around 220 miles out of that.

    Yes... BUT

You get HEAPS better wages and the cars cost you LESS to buy in the first place.

Insurance is a killer from Memory though so.......

Yeah.. what are you paying to Insure a TT Zed over there? (and how old are you... no claims etc etc?)
That will be an intesesting comparison

    We should pay more

I think there is an argument to increase the taxes on fuel. It is killing our planet and resources are depleting. Raise the taxes on it and inject them back into a proper public transport system. People will begin to think about when and where they drive and divert to cheaper greener public transport. Then the only people on the roads will be the enthusiasts and they will have plenty of fuel to amuse themselves for years to come.

I would actually LOVE to work in the city again so that I can catch the train in every day

    1) Cheeper

    2) gives you time to do stuff... like read a mag or whatever or even catch up on work you dind't have time for in the day if your that way inclinded

    3) Means the car can sit all week.. either in peices, OR just waiting for the weekend

    4) Made me LOVE my car more. Everytime the garage door rolled up on the weekend it was like "ahhhh there you are my baby... now i remember why its all worth it"

I made the conscious career move towards a company car. Best move i've ever made.
however since i started with this job (jan) i've done 23,000kms. now in a v6 crewman, that equates to roughly $1200- $1500 a month on fuel.
lucky i ain't paying for it!

My idea is similar, but i cnt catch public transport to my work where i live, so ive started looking at a cheap daily driver and keeping the Z for the weekends/special occassions. I think it will be the easiest alternative for a 19yo turning 20 (in a matter of days :D)

And i will definitly love my car more every time i go for a drive in her... I love the sound of my Z :D:D:D Courtesy of Fleet, if anyone wants to know where i get the note from :p

I'd take public transport to work except that it would take me 2 hours when I could drive there in 40 min :bash:

The price of fuel doesn't really phase me, either way I need it and will find a suitable replacement if neccessary ;)

I can take public transport to work (sometimes) . . . if I start at 5pm, it's OK (just have to leave home at 3:00pm), but then I finish at midnight and there's no public transport to get home.
On other days, I start at midnight (no public transport), finish at 8:30 in the morning and can get PT home, but I've already driven there by car.
Either way the Bus takes 2 1/2 hours for what would be a 20 minute trip by car (two 20 minute interchanges . . . would you believe it's not a direct service?).
And "they" want us to use Public Transport . . . go figure!

The other alternative is to detune your Zed (if it's a DD like mine) to be able to run on 91RON. No performance, but it's cheap!

What do I do? Bite the bullet and pay through the nose for 98RON.

    Government Bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now "they" are increasing the alcohol excise . . . what will this do to the price of fuel?

now that the price of nasty mixed drinks has risen, does that mean that i have to resort to drinken 91ron petrol?
    it's much the same.....

...i could put it on the work fuel card.

meanwhile, i agree doug. 'they' should have a ring rail thing much like the western ring (carpark)
