Guys, i guess this may not be specifically Z related, however general and Technical, so in the right section.

I'd like some advice- not being a huge suspension expert,

When a vehicle is getting vibration at higher speeds presumably it's wheel balancing or incorrect wheel nut torque.

I have personally checked that side of things, i'm just wondering what else it could be.
    such as
    -unbalanced driveshafts
-unbalanced tail shafts (shit you learn some things from doug, don't you?!)
    -buggered engine mounts.
What else do you reckon that has caused vibration problems in your car. exclude the wheels and tyres, hubrings, i have that covered!

    thanks in advance

Anything that rotates will cause vibrations if it is unbalanced / damaged / bent / has a bad bearing

Engine running on 5 cyl, damage in gearbox, universal joints, loose bolt in driveshaft, misaligned driveshaft

Stereo at full blast also causes vibrations

    What sort of vibrations?

Could be driveshaft, gearbox mounts, steering rack bushes off the top of my head

I have noticed that I also get a vibration that appears at about 80kmph and then goes again once I increase speed past about 85kmph.

Its only a problem on one freeway in Perth which is 80kmph speed limit but I would like to know what is causing it.

    Any suggestions?

80kph vibrations are classic symptoms of tailshaft centre bearing problems.:zlove:

sounds like textbook center bearing failure, you can change the bearing or change to a 1 peice (obviously jsut changing bearing is cheaper). dont procrastinate too much if you wanna change the bearing because itll take out the uni's with it (what mine did and now i need a 1 peice, so ive got a centre bearing sitting on my desk which was chrispys before he got a one peice one week after he installed it, only got 500kms use and i have no need for it so ill sell it to you for $40 if you need it)

Hmm... sounds similar to the problems I had, in which case the gearbox mount was proven to be the cause.

Crawl under the car and have a look. That one is an easy check at least.

PM me if you want me to post up a photo of what a worn gearbox mount looks like.

Now that you have "come clean", I could say that you're breaching the forum guidelines, but I won't.:p:p:biggrin::zlove:
