Andrew Johns, has retired after doctors ruled he was at risk of "catastrophic spinal injury". A sad day indeed for rugby league and all his fans around the globe, Now how the hell is 'Newcastle' gonna get anywhere in this comp without him ??
PS, IMHO the blues just can't win without him

Johns has had nothing but injuries for the last few years, I think his been one of best and least seen players, his very fortunate it happened at training and not while playing....

yeah its a real shame what happend to him, he was one of the best.

god knows how the knights will go now, they need some new talent... but it really opens a chance for someone else to shine.

he will be missed, matty is hillarious tho, if andy is the same welcome him to the show! lol

And so the curtains are drawn on leagues most over rated player. The game is dominated by the likes of Lockyer, Inglis, Bowen and Thurston, Johns is yesterdays news. Thanks f'k he's gone, i was getting sick of his brother constantly talking him up on the footy show!

I'm not a rabid fan of Andrew Johns, but I admire skill and talent when I see it, and in him I see it.
It's comforting to see that the Australian talent for "kicking a dog when it's down", is still alive and well on this forum and in the general community. One can only hope that you pair are given an opportunity to sample the same negativity someday.:(:(
Are you life members of the Clive Churchill Cheerleaders Association?:p

i tend to think he was overrated as well, imo he isn't even in the top 10 of all time, still, he was a very good player and it's a bummer that such a seemingly simple collision puts an end to a great career,it's sad to see sportsmen play on when they are way past their best

You play a stupid sport like rugby league and you have to expect to be hurt eventually (football - or soccer FTW). Hell it's not the first time he's been hurt and he still came back for more  I know if I had a broken neck I wouldn't be playing any contact sports anymore.

He should've retired properly the first time. I'm not saying he can't read a game or pass or kick, just saying that he's too old and battered to be effective anymore and that there are younger, more tallented players getting around atm.

Whats wrong Lloyd, "cant take the heat".. :p sorry, noticed ur sig block.. John's was once a great player, that was a while ago thoe. Like when Sonny Bill was harshly suspended for 2 weeks for what can only be called a 'soft' tackle. Johnsy was then on the footy show stating that he still suffers from migraines, and was advised to rest, next day he was running around and diving on the sand at a touch footy charity match. The guy's a wanker, IMO, Lockyer is one of the worlds best footy players, and has always been better than John's. John's only ever really played halfback, Lockyer can play HB, FB and 5/8, that my friend is skill and talent. And no i dont go for the Bronco's..

Well Mike, he does have the points on the board, and that is FACT not fiction(highest points tally in 100 years of Rugby League), that has to say something about his ability, doesn't it? Follow that with all but one of the Immortals stating that he has every entitlement to be included amongst their ranks(but what would they know, silly old bastards?).
Then we come to "who is Clive Churchill?". He is the tall bloke depicted in the Grand Final Trophy(and the first player to be inducted into the Immortals Hall of Fame). He is also the bloke whose widow was the only to make a negative comment on John's possible inclusion. Why? Because she doesn't want too many people in the "exclusive club".:eek::eek:
