I went to the drag grudge match today between SAU and the V8 owners car club at WSID. Got to do some good testing with ZX2NV and ran the nos too. Anyway got it all together for a near perfect run considering the cold and slightly wet conditions.

Launched at 6000 rpm, immediate good grip and high G launch due to full shot of nos off the line. Hit 2nd and pulling like a mack truck, Hit 3rd and the finish line is fast approaching, Quick change to 4th and its over. Nailed it beautifully and thought I have done it first 11 second pass on a stock engine/turboed zed with nos. Pick up the timeslip and NNNOOOOOO.

    Ran a 12.028 with 1.654 60 foot time and hit 114.12 MPH

Damn so close yet so far

So retuned the nitrous jets removed another degree of timing for a re run and the rain starts so will have to wait again for that ever elusive 11 second slip.

Had heaps of fun but nearly fried my clutch.

    Congrats on the time

Just wondering if this little comp to get first stock engine/turbos zed into the 11's is only for australia or are you thinking its worldwide. As far as ive seen its been done once maybe twice (two different people I mean) in america.

    Again, awesome time.

Any other interesting results out there today? Was Adrian racing? 2RISMO, the burgandy Skyline on the bottle. Id like to know what Adrians 60ft times are with nos when he runs 11's... ??

Always another day Jase :) and at least I didn't miss seeing the 11 sec pass.

    Caz.. :)

you will easily break into the low - mid elevens with some tuning/traction refinements:cool:

    What tyres?

Were you running slicks to get traction at 6k rpm? That's pretty full-on.

Was going to go a limiter launch (6800 rpm) next run but didnt get a chance. The G force of the line is awesome never really felt it that hard before. I think a cooler track is better than a hot sticky one.

As far as I know no one has done it in Aus anyway. If you have some links etc to the staets guys that would be sweet I am interested to know there setup.

No Caz he wasnt they had a few R32 GTRs there with big turbos etc but shit tyres and clutches so couldnt put a good run down, Abo Bob was running mid 12's with his new manual conversion and a few regulars and a few newbies there too. I scared em a little Paul Walker style I approached them and revved the car to about 6k and when backed off hit the nitrous purge, got a few big grins thats for sure.

I think its do able maybe even without the nos but a lot of attention would have to be given to the springs etc. I run Tein Flex with 12 kg front and 10kg rear springs and run about 3 degrees camber on the rear so traction is a little problem. I rejetted the car today to aim at a terminal speed of 120mph which would get a high 11 today but will most likely be a different track next time out and need to be done again. So all in all not bad for a track setup car.

Using the Mickey Thompson Street drag radials curteousy of Caz, ran them at around 12 psi today due to camber and all good, great tyres seemed to like the cooler track after a big 2nd gear burnout.

Yeah you jinxed me Ross the other day me thinks. First burnout and big launch and couldnt select any gears crunched into 3rd to finish the run. Adjusted the pedal and got it back but then cooked it after 3 full nitrous runs pushing 330 odd RWKW through the competition clutch. Cooled down okay and seems okay now going to get a replacement just in case it would have suffered some heavy wear today.

That's a bloody awesome time there Jase:D You are pratically there and from what I have gathered you don't drag that much anyway so a bit more practice and tinkering will easily get you an 11 second pass. I know you have put a fair bit of coin into your Zed but for the mods that count to pull a time like that in my books is very economical.

Hey J i think if u added another 500rpm i reckon you would of hit the nail on the head. But seriously good effort....very impressive power and e.t....all on a stock engine and snails. Go you good thing, goo!

Good stuff i just dont want to read a post anytime soon that u blown something up, so look after that late model engine!!:D :D....not jinxing here or anything:p

  20. UNIQUE ZED

    UNIQUE ZED Zed Racing World

    Getting there

Prob woud have hit 11 secs without the rear wing big brakes and 20's on front and softer springs adn neutral to slightly possitive camber also. Still very good 60 foot and must be good tyres. Slots cars best 60ft was 1.59 so very good time.

Rear 3 deg neg did you say? Bit much for anything other than wheel clearance problems on guards?

Prob faster than 90% of Skylines and GTR's there??
