I just got a PM today from Bill of Leatherseats.com
He says he's planning for another Group Buy for leatherseats at 300zxclub.com sometime mid February. This may be a great opportunity for someone to be the focal person on behalf of aus300zx.com to join in on this. I attached a link to the last GB reflecting the price drop per confirmed purchases as well as myriad of options available. Food for thought for those who prefer real leather over immitation. FWIW

I'll post back when he opens it up for requests.

    Things to note...

I've tried to get in a on a few US group buys...but shipping costs always put me off.

Some things to note with this group buy are...

The prices are in US dollars...
The trim kits are designed for Left Hand drive US model Zeds. So don't bother ordering it. They are made to fit and it's not like buying a large amount of material which you can cut yourself...these are pre made for Left Hand versions.

Other than that it should be fine. First thing though, find out how much shipping costs to Aus. Add your total up then go to a currency converter website and convert to Aussie dollars. I'd say you'll probably be looking at close to the $1000 mark in the end. Maybe more...

    Cheers
    Rob.

    Concerns noted

I have sent another pm to Bill C. at leathers.com indicating the concerns about the RHD requirements. As well, I addressed the options portion to accomodate the RHD world. I also requested a possible dispensation as far as group shipping of seat skins to AU. I'm looking for direct answers to direct questions from Bill to alleviate these specific concerns. I've already done leather seat replacement projects using oem skins and actually had to use the reverse pattern. IE; I had to use the LHD drivers seat cushion skin on the passenger side of a LHD MX3. I did have to make 2 new holes for the rail mounting brackets but that was a simple procedure and that part worked out well. Although there was a very slight difference to original cut of the skin itself, the natural pliancy of the material molded itself to the foam cushion of the passenger seat within months and looks like factory original with no wrinkles or deformities. I'm not saying that will be the case here, but I (we) will know more when Bill responds to those specific areas that I have addressed. If you know of specific things to look for with new seat skins for the z, please post or pm me them so that I can pass these concerns along. I'm still a noob Z owner and those senior members will be able to quickly point out those unique things to consider or look for in a project like this.
    More to follow....

I made an order with leatherseats.com recently. They told me that RHD requirement is not a problem as they can simply flip the trim kit pattern. Seats fit both LHD and RHD zeds.

Very interesting that there is a LHD and RHD kit. I was in the recent group buy for seat covers from MaxfromAus and both front seat covers were identical. Only way these may differ is if the holes for the lumbar and seat retract for the back rest to come forward are pre cut.

Seats are not a problem as they fit both LHD and RHD models, only if you also get the trim kit for the reset of the trim

I just got the leatherette covers from the gb, so its unlikely i'll be in for these. But the massage/heat upgrades look interesting. Any1 else thinking of getting these options?
