First question, broken ignition barrel. Would that stop my fuel pump, ignition and injectors? I have really loosely read there is a spring in the ignition barrel, if that comes out the car doesn't start, like a theft prevention measure, if this is a real thing, can someone tell me more about it? Whole story: Someone wanted to take my zed for a spin while I was at work, they broke into it, made a mess, and left it. The immobilizer has been bypassed. It was only doing fuel pump and starter. starter works fine, engine cranks. Checked all the relays, fuse etc etc everything seems ok. I have checked the CAS, no change with another item. Fuel pump powers up direct from a 12v source. my other idea as to what can take out all those items together is the ECU. I have a unit here to test, but is there anything else i should/could try?
Article here.... http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300...-switch-fix-and-keyed-barrel-replacement.html about the ignition barrel having a metal contact that slips out permanently earthing on the switch body... could be the culprit given it's been broken. Sorry to hear you got targeted by some lowlife too !
whip out a coil pak and plug check the spark while cranking, it may also be to do with the immobiliser go back to basics, check for fuel and spark and go from there.
Def no spark, checked that. 99% sure thr injectors ate not firing as the plugs were still dry when i had the fuel pump running off a battery. Immboliser has been totally removed. It was only connected to the fuel pump and starter. I do have a set of the the led injector testers. Ill hook it up and see if it flashes.
I am pretty sure i checked that one. Ill double check it again. Not sure what else could be taking out all those items at once? Im at a total loss.
Yep, Check ignition relay is working, wiring to/from it may have been tampered with. Should able to feel it click when ignition is turned on.
The wires to the ignition switch have since broken as it was hanging down from them. Would it be a simple case of joining the wires to make it think the ignition switch is in the correct position? I can hear various relays clicking on, the ABS is a loud one inside the car, and another in the engine bay. Being only 1 person in the house its hard to check the engine bay for relays + turning key at the same time.
Ok update..... getting somewhere. Seems the EGI relay has a part.... It goes click eveything lights up. After about a second later another click happens and my AVCR turns off and stays off, the eth gauge flicks and restarts then comes good When i leave the egi relay out the avcr does nothing
Oh my god.. i got it started. Looks like the dirty mofos had a go at trying to get my ECU!!! :bash: I was looking around for more relays then i noticed the big plug was undone. Once i plugged that in. Everything came back to life!!
Glad you finally nailed it ! Was about to suggest your battery voltage might be a bit low to switch the ECU. Enjoy the long weekend
