Hi Zedders.. since i just can't internet correctly i have bitten the bullet and decided to just ask instead of countless searches running around in circles and methods that don't work. Wiring harness was severed over a few lines by previous owner of my project (ha! theres a great idea in itself.. project cars). Half the clicks were wrecked so on so forth so i decided oh well easier to just replace it.. I have never been so wrong i am convinced!!! I battled to get the old loom at (winging it:rolleyes2 now i am trying to get the new one in. Most guide i have found have ZERO mention to removing the ac boxes so no i haven't done that. However the ECU plug won't go through the hole.. its too big. I've got in there bashed around and widened the hole but alas i'm still stuck, can't get past the bolt in the middle.. you know the one you can't removed either. SOOO what i am asking.. detailed instruction on how to fit a big plug through a little hole and/or How the flip do i remove the AC boxes and do i have to disconnect the compressor first? Thanks guys
The AC can stay gassed up but I found heaps of crap had to come out. Even if you get the interior cable hasp off I don't think there will be enough room for the plug to go through.

You asked for help... You need to stick the small ends of the wiring harness thru from the inside of the vehicle. It won't fit the other way, as you've already worked out. It also doesn't help that you now have a mangled, gaping hole in your firewall after bashing it around a bit... so the sealing gland end will probably not seal anymore. I found having a friend to help pull from one side while you push from the other helped a lot. Also, using a lubricating spray to make it seat properly on what's left of the firewall will make the job at hand much easier. I can't remember if I re-used the steel cable relief plate or not, but I do recall the inboard most bolt was a pain to undo and even worse to do up. TL;DR: 1) Small end first 2) Mangled hole- persevere. 3) Find a friend to help 4) Lube HTH.
I put it in from the outside inn. The big main plug i beleive i took the plastic cover off and taped it to prevent wire damage. Then there was this other big plug tht wont go through. Took a picture of it and de-pinned it. Then just put it back together on the inside.
That is LHD and obviously very different. Here is a picture I did ages ago the two red dots show the nuts that hold the cable cover with harness in place. This is with the harness removed the other two small holes are for the AC.

I replaced mine by just removing the glove box, blower box and A/C unit. There was a bracket that I needed to undo that sits behind the A/C core, holding the loom in place. Bit difficult changing it with the A/C box in place, because of how long the ECU connector is when you feed it through from the engine bay.
how the f did you get it to fit. I have depinned the other plug, too photo etc. the whole in my firewall isn't overly damaged. Should seal back up.
I had my engine and entire dash out. Heater core in place but AC evaporator and fan removed. When I was doing this but it was rather easy... fed the US spec LHD loom through. Small connector in first then fed the big square one in along with the thicker loom section afterwards. Did not have to take off any connectors! If you do not want to remove the dash, AC box or fan then it's hard because of the lack of space. Sometimes you may just need to walk away from it for a bit, take a break and easier next time.
I'm about to replace mine. Was going to get the ac degassed and remove the box. But will attempt to do it first without doing that. If I come up with an easy way, will report back
