Which crankshaft pulley??

    Which crankshaft pulley is recommended for a high performance engine build? Unorthodox Racing lightweight pulley claim a gain of 25 - 30 horsepower for the twin turbo but do not have the dynamic dampening characteristic of ATI at high outputs. ATI Racing is suitable for 1,000 hp, Unorthodox claim use up to 2,000 hp. Obviously tuning and tolerances are critical as well. Any engine build experience for a comparison??

    25 to 30HP for a TT is probably about a 10% gain.
    At face value this claim appears unrealistic.
    That argument aside, would you consider harmonic vibration something that can be ignored?
    Do you expect to make 1,000 or 2,000HP?

    3rd'd on the Ross. ATI 2nd.

    If you have a standard-ish engine with regular bolt ons, then UR/AMS/etc will be fine

    I've always found it funny that Ross are ANDRA approved and make a 1500hp pulley with a big **** off harmonic balancer. ATI are NHRA approved and used to make an 800hp pulley with a little balancer, and a 1000+HP pulley with a big balancer.

    UR on the other hand aren't approved by any motorsport regulator and make a 2000hp pulley with no balancer lol

    Now owned by Omega Technical Engineering in Albury/Wodonga ............

    They made a billet sump, dry-sump pump brackets/pump, a balancer, gilmer-drive pulleys and chopper for my 4-litre VQ/HR engine last year ... superb engineering and half the price of a Dailey Engineering dry-sump setup from the US.

    I personally have a "factory one" may be changing soon just while opportunity presents

    So, your saying a solid type pulley is specifically EXCLUDED from competition??

    Or is is just the fact that ANY dampened pulley setup MUST be approved for competition due to their inherent failure potential.
    And fail they do!!!

    I fail to see why the pullies are rated in "HP" anyway. A crock.
    What, is the power of the engine transmitted thru the pulley then to the alternator and waterpump?
    How much crank deflection do they believe will me magically soaked up in a bit of a flywheel and a rubber strip to be released henceforth safely at a later time then...........?
    There isnt a single instance even in hell that i know of where the failure of a crank was, without reasonable doubt, attributed to a lightweight, solid, underdrive front pulley
    Hmmmmmmm.....!
