I am doing a conversion on my twin turbo to a NA power steering pump. I am using Penrite lubricants and fluids for this vehicle. Just wondering what is recommended - Premium Mineral or Semi Synthetic Power Steering Fluid? Any shared experience or suggestions much appreciated - ZXOCET

Neither, you need ATF. Dexron III or above I believe

Mineral, DEX-II or III ATF (transmission fluid) if you use the product selector on their website it shows you the right ones. Doesn't have to say power steering on the bottle, so long as it's DEX-II or III.

Dexron Type ATF is what Nissan spec (http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-...=0&cycle=off&slide=10&design=default&total=33). If you're shopping around at the higher end of the market there are synthetic options that meet and exceed Dex III. I'm using motul synthetic atf.

Is that with a rebuilt pump?

Some older pumps begin to leak with full synthetic oils, as the seals are of a rubber variant and require mineral oil to work properly and seal up.

Most newer seal kits are all made from synthetic type materials and are fine for both mineral and full synthetic oils.

    Just curious...

Yeah the pump had been rebuilt -I'd be very surprised if a high end synthetic caused leaks in a standard pump though? Assuming it's still a dexron type oil it really shouldn't make a difference...

Huge thanks guys. I am using a rebuilt pump and conversion kit from Z1 Motorsports, so will take your great advice and use ATF Dexron - will let you know if I have any problems.
