Hi, As it says above. Picked up a NON abs NA z32. Looks like it was done from factory. What I find weird is that the Master Cylinder is a 4 outlet BM44. Every other one I have seen is either a 2 outlet (ABS) or 3 outlet (NON abs in every other Nissan. ie Silvia and Skyline) Is 4 outlet normal on these or??
Yes - one line to each non ABS Wheel (4 lines) is standard on Non ABS systems On the ABS system the two lines run to the ABS actuator and then the four lines split to the wheels A three line system as you mentioned (found on other nissans) would just have two lines to the actuator and one rear line running to the actuator which would then split into two to the rear as the majority of force is applied to the front braking system and is why four lines is not used commonly
I wouldn't say 4 lines out of the MC is standard for non ABS in general, it's more of a 'premium' thing because there's probably some theory that it distributes force more evenly than having a tee down the line. It is factory for the Z though, because NAs needed more stuff in the engine bay.
Nope, only 3 lines out of the ABS system, front left, front right and rear. The rears split out to each wheel under the back of the car.
OP what year is your zed? I'm just curious to know as mine is a factory non-abs zed aswell & i havnt heard of another anywhere else until now as i knew there had to be some out there somewhere just like mine. Another way to tell if it is factory non-abs in a 2 seater like mine or not is to take off the small trim piece behind the seat that is held on by velcro if i remember correctly & if you can see anything other than a blank plate then yours isnt a factory non-abs zed. Other than the obvious, where there isnt the abs pump in the boot.
Thanks Mike & Fists. I knew there had to be more than just mine because i was told persistently by a specific member, who thinks that he knows everything about zeds, a while back that all zeds came with abs & that i was wrong & that it must have been removed. Thanks for confirming.
There's a good chance all Aus delivered had ABS standard and importing an NA is a bit of a small niche and easy to miss. Like the fact that some R32 skylines had 4-stud hubs and 2-pot floating brakes.
1990 2+2 Ausspec. Definately factory non ABS. no sensor mounts or anything on suspension. The interior plastic is made not to have the Abs cover connected to it. All the holes for the Abs lines are still taped up. The lines are fitted perfectly and run under the car in the stock spots.
I went to buy the boot trim of an old 2+2 wreck and found that it had no ABS. Think it was an import. The ABS master cylinders we have look just like the 3 port non abs masters other nissans use but with one port sealed off. Are they more or less the same internally? I would have thought not but they look practically the same.
Tte R32 GTS (NA) versions are all 4 stud. Same with R33 GTS which are also 4 stud and with floating (pov spec) calipers. That's interesting, didn't know Aus specs could be optioned without ABS.
