My Pics - Better late than never... Took me a few days, but here are some pics. Thanks to everyone that came and big thanks to BigCol for planting the seed for another GOR run. Part of what makes the GOR run so much fun is having a whole bunch of Zeds cruise together on the freeway and then attack the GOR with some spirited driving. So thanks again for a great turn out. At our peak, we had 17 Zeds and 3 non zeds, so a pretty good turn out. Thankfully we had great weather, maybe a little too warm, but better than rain. Lets not talk about the torrential storm and rain on the way home and the problem with having targa roofs off.... The GOR is always fun, but as BigCol has already stated we were plagued by heavy traffic this year. February+Hot weather+Tourists does not make the GOR as fun as it should be. Anyway, it was an experiment and we've learnt from it. So the GOR will be returning to its usual slot of the Last Sunday in November. So the good news is we get to do it again later this year. November will be a busy month for Victorian Zedders as we will have the Doug Memorial cruise in the first week of November, and the GOR in the last week. But thats ok, no one should ever complain about too many cruises!! OK, so here are some pics I took. Hope you enjoy them. Happy Zedding !! BigMax and Tektrader Badxtc's very nice Beemer... Always a great view on the GOR. At least if you're stuck in slow traffic, you get some great views.. The Apollo Bay invasion...
Indeed !! Its great to see RedZedMikey driving a Zed again!! Granted, its not Red, but rather a really awesome blue yeah, those damned Calamari were delicious !!
Great photos Mark..we might get Craig's up tonight..sorry for the delay guys, been busy sorting out other stuff each night
1/ Special mention to the young guy & his dad that came all the way from MtGambier to go on the cruise ..... on the road from 6:00am is dedication !!! Respect earned 2/ Traffic, and now you've had a good reminder why I've tried my best to by-pass the busy areas with past GOR's Other than going on a week day or going in shitty weather it's just part of the road in summer on a hot day, at least there were minimal tourist buses to deal with for a change !!! 3/ Thanks for taking it back Col..... I enjoyed the hassle free cruise for a change and loved the social side, I've not seen that for quite a while :br: 4/ Future improvements..... It's time we insisted on a handheld UHF for the cruise, even if we can get 30% of cars with one then we'd get rid of much of the confusion at heavy intersections ... Loosing cars is never good ALL drivers need to keep an eye out for the car behind them 5/ Tekky, your lookin well :br:
I can't believe it rained! I had to leave before Apollo Bay, but the whole way home it never once looked like raining. Flabbergasted. Had a good time despite not going all the way. Shame about the traffic, seems like that damn road is packed any time of year. Was great to see everyone. Anyone get any pics of the downpour?
Hey Guys, Sorry for the lengthy wait on these going up, just been busy and then slack (from being tired from being busy), then busy, then slack again (gota get some down time somewhere )...anyway somewhere between the cruise and now I've spent around 2.5 nights total working on these so I hope you like the results Nothing major done, just an initial cull (took 600+ on the day), initial picks (around 150) then final flagging for posting (90 made it to the editing table) with a little cleaning up here and there as a lot were underexposed due to the day being so damned bright, it made them look correct on the camera's LCD at the time but they were in fact quite dark. Some also got some creative cropping to create an interesting image from an otherwise averagely composed photo due to less than ideal shooting conditions - such as trying to get the perfect scenic shot while being thrown and jolted around the cabin along the GOR while also having to deal with intense glare from the glossy black Z32 dash reflecting of the windscreen along with finding a clear-ish view port through various bug smears and grime. Anyway, it was a great turnout for the annual event with beautiful weather (if a little warm). Renee and I both really enjoyed the day and as usual it was great to catch up again with many of you. A big thanks to the organisers and we look forward to doing it all again later in the year! Oh and Col, I definitely think an 8am start at Point Danger would be much better. You'd get a lot more time to socialise and I reckon you'd get a better run along the actual GOR before it gets to busy as the morning gets older. You also would then have the option to go further after an earlier lunch to Port Campbell and return via the inland route done in previous years. Either way, you know Renee and I will be there whatever the time Note: Higher resolutions versions can be seen by clicking on the respective photo The day begins with a briefing by Col and the usual rules are laid down - Keep the car behind you in sight & have fun without being a DH or a hazard to other road users Z32 escort service 100kmp/h portrait Love the ultra deep red on this beast! Bypassing Geelong Great day for it! It ain't a GOR photoshoot without a shot of the sign itself Love it Alex, LOL LOL...those Wicked Camper sloganists have no shame! This is one of the more obvious "creatively cropped" photos I was talking about Guys, this isn't the place to be checking out your engine bling! (seriously from what I heard though, the incident that caused this pull over was a bit scary ) Everyone's happy (especially Jedi ) after a long, winding stint on the GOR to reach Apollo Bay for a chat & some chow Mine - Mine - Mine... Dean's just a tad excited for the Apollo Bay Golf Club...or is it the Apollo Bay Building Group, Commerical & Domestic Builders available on 03 5237 7880 or via ww.abbg.com.au? Funny as f**k anyway Anyone would think I've stolen Mark's photos for these next two. The near exact shot composure is crazy! (Mark's - Rear Three Quarter View / Side View) These next shots (bar the last one) are taken by RENZED herself as I navigated the twisties on the way back (& she got thrown and jolted around for a change ) And so the sun sets on another brilliant GOR cruise as we all head for home.. Cheers, Craig
You guys have so many nicely stanced zeds down there. Wish we had more of that here Your cruise looked awesome (jealous much)
Fantastic photos... Great pics Craig.... A great collection of photos and moments which really captured the day Awesome work
This would have been awesome to go on, if only we knew sooner! Silly question but what sort of age group do these cruises attract, are most in early 20's or is it a broad range of drivers, 20 - 50+
The GOR cruise had people from P Platers thru to old timers like me soon to qualify for seniors discounts
