Can someone please bring a sump bolt to the QLD tech day I'm to embarrassed to say why haha this is how much oil Iv gone through in 2 months This is not a joke (Please be gentle)
There is a heap of broken silicon around the bolt. didn't have a washer on it when I bought the car. Ever since I changed the oil for the first time it's been leaking like a sieve
It's just a generic copper crush washer dude. As a motorbike rider I am not impressed with the amount of oil you will have left all over the centre of your local roads...
Mmmmm this is very true Luckily you don't live here But for all the other riders here I see your point.
Within saying that I filled up 5 of those containers with oil from my drip tray and took it to the mechanic down to road to dispose of it for me. So not all of it is on the road, but never the less
Just putting it out there but you could walk up to the parts counter at your local dealership and buy a sump plug & washer for much less than the cost of that oil
:agree: You could buy one online, delivered to your letterbox. You may aswell get a magnetic sump plug.
Geez, after the first wasted bottle of oil that should have been sorted. You sure its leaking from the sump plug? At least your car is getting a regular oil change. That must have been smoking like a bitch with oil all over the cats.
I find it hard to believe it's just a washer..... the fact that the bolt was siliconed into the sump is an ominous sign My guess would be that the thread in the sump has been stripped, and the previous owner 'bodgied it up' for the sale
This is plausible. If the thread on the bolt is damaged, the thread in the oil pan will also be damaged.
Careful use of plumbers Teflon tape? Don't get any on the top of the sump plug, it will end up breaking loose and clogging something in the engine
Nissan said it would take 2 weeks for a new bolt to come in but they gave me two of these shiney little things Fingers crossed
