Have this saved up as a rough guide just to look into the parts that can be taken out or swapped for lighter components. http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1316770 Hope it helps.
I have seen it done on a race car, Cant remember where I saw it. Weight saving was Massive, 30+ kg People, don't underestimate the benefit of weight savings outside of the axels. The benefits are HUGE. Look how much is bolted onto the Z32 front overhang. There is a LOT of weight. Try to move all of it back behind the wheels..
So far I've taken a total of 275kg out of my slicktop but that is in track mode with no carpets or boot trim and just one Sparco seat. Not sure how much it weighs in street mode but it would be definitely be way under 100kg extra. It handles and drives unbelievable but as a daily it's an absolute bitch, so it's just a weekend or skidpan car now.
No passenger seat? Not very hospitable of you. BTW, Really good achievement when you compare that to this thread. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=256958 about weight reduction.
Lol, yeah I just take it out for the track. It took a hell of a lot of work but for what I wanted it was definitely worth it. I still want to work on getting the front end lighter because the weight distribution is heavily biased towards the front.
