Hi so going solids looks like a complete pain in the ass and not something I can do at home (I do everything myself).

Do the jwt500 have a mean idle? I'm going to be getting rid of VCT so tomei gears all round.

Anyone on here have them? Going on stock bottom end with twin 54mm turbos.

What are the specs on them?

Generally speaking JWT don't make a great cam and you're asking for noisy valve train without reseating the valves...

400+ work fine and don't require and modification except for a early series adaptor .

Keeps good mid range torque to high also without sacrificing much mid down.

Not saying anything bad about them, but I woulda chosen slightly differently If I had the choice again

Idle on my R5's sounded similar to stock.

Specs are 272 duration and 9.77mm lift

They reckon base circle is kept large. Tomei is all solid. Will have a look at jun

The base circle isn't kept large -if it was they'd specify clearing of the heads required like they do with the solid cams. The ramp rates are also much sharper than JUN cams.

Anything JUN is going to require clearancing the heads.

.272 is a lot of duration, depending on where you want it to make power .264 might be a better option. Also VTC not such a bad thing, the big cams don't like to be thrown around so much, with the 9.5/.272 they make best power with the VTC switching on in the midrange like normal but staying on up the top to let everything breathe.

Price is a factor -JUN I think I have advertised at $1800 for cams & springs delivered. This is definitely at the top end of things compared to what you can get the JWT for ex USA. Depends what you want though.

Do you run the jun cams? What does it sound like?

Seems everyone is pissing on the jwt

The other poster said the jwt sounded like stock so screw that.

Yeah and man to be honest they don't sound a whole lot different to stock -idle is a little bit higher to keep things nice and smooth.

You don't seem the type to fit cams just for that lumpy sound?

The best Cams for the VG is the JUN 264/9.7mm

Yes Rob260 9.7mm (as are yours). Had mine on the dial gauge and it went just over 9.7mm lift .. other Nissan Jun cams are quoted at 9.7mm as well.

JWT cams are a cheaper option but as mention lifter clearance must be checked due to reduced base circle .

272 will give you more lag than top end worth of gain .

My JUN cams give a little rumble but that's with no cats and straight through mufflers

you need to ask yourself ..are you chasing a power figure or a power curve ;)

    whats twin 54mms?

well they fit and work .:p

it was checked properly .. might explain why you have to take 1.5mm off for head clearance

Gotta mill the heads for anything 9.3mm and above according to their catalogue. If it works that's the main thing.

Inducer on my compressor wheels. Obviously I need to get a book on turbo camshafts. I heard a freinds gtr start up and it sounded insane.

Best I can find is this.

Firstly that exhaust goes straight out the guards? .

Rob260's cams will sound similar with that exhaust .

My jun 264 cams have a little rumble but I have a no cats and full 3 inch straight through exhaust.

those cams would be the 270/10.25 tomei solids
