I have used a calculator to work out what size tyres I need for my new wheels so that the rolling diameter is kept as close to stock as possible. I have found the sizes I will need, now my only query is, does anyone see an issue with these tyre sizes and will there be an issue with fender clearance? Will a small amount of camber abolish this query or will I need to stretch slimmer tyres on? Wheels Front 18x9.5 +35 Rear 18x10.5 +45 Tyres Front Rear Thank you,
my bad, i thought the combos were 225s up front and a choice of rears. i now see the 225 is the 16" comparison tyre.
All good mate. I should have mentioned the top value in each picture is the stock tyre spec (225 50 16) and the bottom value is the tyre spec I want to use as the rolling diameter is very close to stock. 225s on a 10.5" rim.....far too stretched for my liking lol
All of your options look fine. The cost between 255 and 285 is really all you'll have to decide on. What rubber you aiming towards?
Not sure yet. I wanted to make sure I got sizing right and then look at what's available. The car is used for the odd weekend drive. It's an NA so don't need crazy sticky performance tyres. Something with low road noise would be nice with decent grip. Like a touring tyre. My budget would be around 2k but i think that is pushing it a bit. The 285s are going to cost a fair bit each. Tim (lidz) gave me a link to a mob in the U.S. who supply tyres and are cheaper than here.
I'm "future proofing". And if that doesn't happen and I sell the zed, those wheels are coming off and going into storage anyway.
I'd say the fronts would be fine - however the rears will need the guards rolled and a little bit of camber.... I'm running 18x8.5 +14 on the front with 245/35-18 and 18x9.5 +38 on the rear with 285/30-18. Running about 2 deg negative camber on the front, and about .75 on the rear. By my rough calculations you'll be lightly further out on the rears but slightly further in on the fronts. I had to roll both front and rear to fit my wheels.... Also hit up Option 1 garage for tyres - think I paid round $300 for the rears - Federal 595-Evo. I've been pretty impressed with them.
I'm sure your familiar with my zed ED I run a 18x9.5+30 at the rear on 285 sumitomo rubber, near perfect fitment. On a straight 10" rim I think it would be perfect
Thanks mate. That give me a better idea of how it fits and what I'll need to do. Which zed is your one again? I kid. Just 1 or two.....or 6 questions..... Is yours a 285/30/18 tyre? Did you roll your guards? How much rear camber are you running? How much have you dropped your car? What's your rear spring rate? Zero scrub, even over bumps? My only real query is with that setup and with those tyres, I shouldn't have to use excessive camber, right? The rolling diameter is more or less identical to stock so I'm assuming because of the wider than stock wheel, a small amount of camber and some guard rolling should suffice.
those tuck in just fine without camber. you could run 0 degrees, give the guard a roll (only if low) and they'll fit right in.
Awesome. Thanks Mike. I think I have found the tyres I want so hopefully in about a month ill be able to get them fitted.
Yes. I ground the shit out of it however I still lightly grind on it under full suspension travel or body roll so I'm going to actually (like anti and bracket) cut the rear bar tab off. Drill and mount it further back
