Car looks amazing, but I never knew that they 300zx was considered a '5-seater' as listed in the ad. lol Must have been someone going through the motions while putting in the small details for the ad.
In a world were people appreciated Z32s for the masterpieces that they are they would get that much for it...in the real world where Z32s aren't appreciated enough I think he is dreaming. Most Z32 lovers who think Z32s are worth splashing 32 g on will already have done so or won't have that much money to start with. You really need someone who has a spare 32 g and who is head over heals in love with Z32s yet for some reason hasn't actually bought one yet. It might happen if someone has just crashed their Z but the pool of people you are selling to is rather low.
I don't think he is dreaming at all. That's 35k complied here in Aus, it's only 25k for someone in Japan to buy it which is what I think will happen. A lot of people here on the forum have spent well over 35k on a zed project, and if I were after a 2+2 I wouldn't hesitate to buy it....if I could get it registered. True most of enthusiasts of this car already own one, but something like that wouldn't stop some people from buying it. I would sell my current one if I could get this.
I'm sure this has been discussed a thousand times already but isn't it correct that this car couldn't be imported & complied in Australia anyway? Why advertise it with a complied in Australia if it can't be done?
Buy any car now for 35k and see how much it's worth in three years. You wouldn't buy this car if you didn't intend to own it for a while. It's no different to you rebuilding the red car you had for over 30k and selling it for whatever you did. I would say its a standard import monster thing. It wouldn't be looking at the year of the car, just the listing on whether it's a car or not.
Yep majorly dumb idea. Should have rebuilt a classic muscle car. I would love to have the 15K I lost in my bank account now..
No Tekky You're mistake was selling a perfectly nice Z32 in the first place to fund the race car. You should have kept it and enjoyed it and then just sold it when the passion was no longer there. If you've just gone off the Z32, then that's one thing. Fine, sell it, cop it on the chin and move on. But I suspect you would have been at this exact same place even if you had spent all that money on a "muscle car". Money spent, doesnt always equal money returned. Spending money on cars is always irrational as they just don't make money in return. Unless you buy a real classic like an e-type jag or something. But if you can buy one of them, you wouldn't be worried about the $15K you don't have in your bank account now. Bloody cars.
I've wasted a fair bit of money on the zed. Do I regret it? Maybe a little bit if all I think about was the money. When I take it for a drive, it makes me happy. That is priceless. It's not so much a car I wasted money on but an old mate who's been with me since '05. Having said that though, I wouldn't do it again and I certainly wouldn't spend $35k on a 2k spec. '89 series 1s FTW <3
We've all been young and dumb and blown stupid amounts of money on a car(s). Graham is just p!ssed because he wasn't young I lost a lot more than $15k when I sold the 2+2. Do I regret it, sure who doesn't regret throwing money away. Would I do it again, yes I'm doing it right now haha. It's an expensive hobby
I myself bought a z32 2 years ago for 10.5k and by now have spent nearly 30k on restoration/maintance/upgrades. So I am one of those who would spend 35k on it if I had 35k (because I have already done just that). And that's why I don't have 35k to spend on this car and why other people don't have 35k to spend on it (those crazy enough to spend 35 k on a z have already done so and the rest aren't that crazy. Yes he could make a sale in aus if the timing is right but the odds are low.
Yeah thats my understanding too, 1997 is the newest that can be imported if I remember correctly. I guess if you REALLY wanted it you could import it and use it on the track only. or you could do something bizarre like rebirth it but that would probably defeat the purpose.
I certainly don't regret spending the money on my zed, I'll never see that money again - hell it would take a minor miracle to get 5 figures for most twin turbos. You could argue I could've bought an excel, invested in something useful like a house and then 5 years later maybe I would be able to spend twice as much on a car with equity and what not. But 18 year old me had way more fun/free time than 23 year old me. If someone said I could have the 2 cars I do now or sacrifice them for an econobox and have a Porsche/GTR/M3 etc when im a wrinkly, decrepid 40 year old - I'd still make the same decision. Obviously having a supercar would be amazing, call me shortsighted but my goal has never been to multiply my money or make my money work for me. Conversely I save a little and don't blow everything I have. I've always enjoyed the fruits of my labour while they were still ripe. I'm sure I'll have tons of friends in the future who will be a lot better off than me financially, but like I said - there's nothing that attracts me to being wealthy.
. I Cant believe some of the idiots on this forum that have spent that much on a Z32. And Some even more ! .
