just another zed addict , over the years I have owned 5 Na zeds and one TT and been on the look out for a 2 seater manual 94 + zed with a clean motor

Found out what I have been looking for at pickles auctions 1994 manual twin turbo 2 seater , engine seemed really clean no signs of oil or water leaks , radiator coolent had no signs of rust in it and was topped up , engine oil was clean and all the other components seems in great condition or its age . only down side was it had some damage on the rear quarter panel and drivers door which I wasn't worried to much about

$1500 later I owned it and had it towed back to my place

Put a battery in and moment of truth , engines started straight away sounded awesome with its single exhaust system , idles great no rattles or leaks and clutch feels good .

Ended up getting a few quotes to repair and paint the damage on the quarter panel and door and fit the quarter window and the cheapest I got by far was $800 not included the parts , unique auto sports helped me out with a black door shell $150 and a quarter window glass $150 and now just waiting for it to be repaired

    Aiming for 250 + rwkws

current mods from what I can see are (could be wrong )
    big single pipe exhaust system
    pod filter
    short shifter kit
    standard boost
    stock turbo / intercooler's

would anybody know a ruff estimate on power to expect now and after these mods

    greddy boost controller pro spec
    nistune
    bigger smic or fmic
    minor service

if anybody has these mods mentioned and would like to sell pm me also thanks guys going to put some pics in a second

Hmm, just boost and intercooler. Injectors could be a problem, you might need a fuel reg to boost the pressure.

You should hit at least 230kw.

Yeah 250rwkw should be pretty straightforward, a good manual boost controller, pod filter, bigger side mounts, maybe bump fuel pressure up if needed.

But get onto the servicing first :)

    Great buy for $1500 :)

This and photos, not often a 94 makes its way on here. What colour is it?

Fpr/nistune/good manual boost controller (hallman) and a awesome tuner.

All in the tune and fuel you use.

I have a dyno sheet somewhere of mine when it pulled 247rwkw with a haltech.

    modes were:

    haltech
    boost controller -14psi boost
    front mount
    2.5 exhaust.
    pod filter

Most of the high powered zeds in Sydney use Ben and Mark at MRC.
I can not recommend them any higher, and I'm sure Rob260, ProckyZ and KawasakiRider will back me up on that.

It looks like a great starting point! And I'm sure you'll be stoked with it.

Awesome to see another Black Z being put on to the roads of Sydney!

I would go to toshi for the Tune far cheaper and does both road and Dyno tune to perfect it. Never seen a guy that has so much pride in his work, his motto "no happy no pay". I have been in cars from MRC and UAS with similar power to mine and yeah the tunes are not bad but my tune feels wayyyy nicer heaps more torque just all over a better car to drive. Ppl that have used him will vouch for his work, my mate brought him to this forum and since he has been quickly adopted.... ppl fly him interstate....says it all!

P.s He has done a very good percentage of the Skyline boys which is where he got his reputation on cars pullling MASSSIVE numbers

Dyno vs road tune aside it is actually cheaper to get nistune installed and tuned by MRC than it is to get Toshi to install and road & dyno tune. My own recommendation would be for MRC -Ben is a gun tuner and their new dyno is one of the best on the market.

I have a 250rwkw car with stock turbo and engine (as far as I know - bought the car 2 years ago) so I'll describe my mods:

First I achieved 186.9 kw (Shoot 8) with these mods (Note Shoot 8 will over estimate hp should use shoot 6)
    -3" cat back exhaust
-Unichip piggyback ECU (AFR of 13 too high)
-Dual pods with Selin converter (yes I know useless at these power levels).
    -Z1 SMICs
All else was stock (boost was also stock 9.5 psi)
    Graph is shown below

    186.9 kw (Shoot 8)

I then had Nistune fitted by UAS ($1500) because my AFR was too high at 13 and no-one could tune a unichip anymore (that knows Zs anyway).
I also had UAS fit a $50 manual boost controller.

Doing this achieved 261 kw @ 6200 rpm (Again it is shoot 8 so is over estimating hp)
The graph below shows a 249.7k w run at 13psi and a 261 kw run at 15 psi (again both are Shoot 8 so is over estimating hp)
UAS left me with the boost at 13psi because the clutch was slipping on the dyno and said they'd finish the tune when I replaced the clutch.

I then spent 2.5K plus postage and fitting on a new RPS billet carbon twin clutch. (Fitted by ASR). Overkill I know but I don't regret it.

I then had UAS finish the tune and turn the boost up to 15psi and got 249.7 kW @ 6900rpm (I felt it lost power after the tune but ..maybe just psychological)
Shoot 6 this time so should be a real 249.7rwkw.

    249.7 kW @ 6900rpm (Shoot 6)

I then fitted Z1s larger BA SMIC and also turned the manual boost controller up 3 notches (thought this would increase the boost a fraction so was surprised the dyno said 18psi - but have left it at 18psi)

Anyway here is the latest result: 252.1 kw @ 5800rpm (Shoot 6)
Note that while it does spend some amount of time at 18psi in the lower rpm range the max 252.1 rwkw is ocuring at 15.5 psi (i.e. you don't need 18psi to hit 252 rwkw you can do it on 15).
Also note that while it looks like power hasn't gone up from the above graph in fact it has as the 250+ rwkw is now occurring at 1000RPM lower thanks to boost increase (and probably bigger SMICs).

I should also mention that ever since I bought the car two years ago I have always put a bottle of Nulon total fuel system cleaner in the tank (so every tank costs me an extra $23) - and my car is not economical to begin with lol.
I do this because although it is not sold as an octane booster according to this
    http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.13
it is one of the best boosters out there. I don't use actual Octane booster because that leaves a residue in your cylinder that builds up over time (the TFSC - a polyetheramine -is an injector and upper cylinder cleaner so should not be leaving a residue behind).

People warn that running too many bottles of fuel cleaner ruins your injectors (I think the makers of TFSC would beg to differ) and in any case I've put over 100 bottles through now and still going strong (apart from an engine that does not stop when you turn it off lol).

Point is that with the 98 octane Shell VPower I always use plus the fuel cleaner I'm probably at 99 to 100 octane (I've been getting away with 18psi for a while now but that's not to say you won't blow your engine trying to do likewise). (I also don't go WOT in hot whether).
(Conventional wisdom would limit stockers to 14psi - disobey conventional wisdom at your own risk - but I do it and survive).

Take home point is that biggest power increase comes from after market ECU and tune such as Nistune plus a boost increase (breather mods probably don't come into their own till you do that).

I'll also mention that I have no idea why anyone would want more that 250 rwkw - my car is an absolute blast at this power level.

Big thanks to all that have replied

AAU54U I would think you be able to make more rwkws after placing the clutch but still plenty of power with basic mods

I have just bought a greedy propec 2 off ebay and a Fmic ( might swap for smic when I can find a cheap pair ) going to put them on after the body repairs are done with probly a minor service sort out any boost leaks if any then off to mrc
Anyone have any advice on a fuel pressure regulater upgrade ? There's afew on ebay but most look like there Chinese brands

Beware a lot of the cheap branded products, aka Sard, are cheap chinese knockoffs. Best to get this from a reputable supplier. Fuel pressure is critical.

Yeah I was expecting more, but can't really complain with stock turbos.

Your wrong mate toshi is half the price I think it's 400 or 500 drive in and away and he uses a brand new mainoine dyno +no happy no pay can't be beat .... He spent 2 days in my car to get it right no extra charge. ... That's quality

360 rwkws does sound a hole lot better but would be hard to kept out of trouble ,, would you have to rebuild the bottom end to achieve that ?

    http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=312934

Road tune & dyno tune $550
    Dyno hire $90
    Install nistune $258
    Total: $898

    http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325512

Says $700 for nistune but perhaps already had nistune.

    http://www.mrcdyno.com.au/index.php/tuning/nissan-tuning

Says $1100 drive in/out so you are probably right although certainly not half the price.
