Bigger turbos means less space for the steering shaft, thinking of putting a spacer on the bottom side of the engine mounts (oem mounts) to lift the engine up. Is this a good idea, how much can one safely space the engine up?

I suspect you'd run into clearance issues with the gearbox bellhousing against the transmission tunnel very quickly.

What turbos are you fitting that you are concerned will foul on the steering shaft?

Or do I misunderstand your question?

I found that AMS split dumps will rub on the steering shaft if you have AMS manifolds. I put stock manifolds back on and now have about 5mm of clearance.

I had AMS split dumps rub on the steering shaft with stock manifolds.
I had to persuade the dumps to clear with a large hammer. Didn't take much though.

    That's with GT28RS turbos.
