Nissan specify timing at 15 degrees plus or minus 2 degrees, so you can have it set from 13 degrees to 17 degrees.
When checking adjusting timing, it's important to view the timing marks at the correct orientation.

I will do this with the shroud off .

With the shroud of I had it set roughly at 17*

    I have reset the timing now to 15* @ 700rpm , 80*C

Minivan bet me to it. Make sure the cars is up to temp before adjusting/checking timing. Also to get a timing light to work on a Zed just hold the lead clamp open and place on top of the coil. You will soon work out what I mean if you do it with the trigger pulled on the timing light as when it is in the sweet spot the light works :D. Also most Zeds the C.A.S sit in the same spot on the bolt slots when at 15% so have a look at some else's. It's usually a good give away to timing being out.
    Cheers Dave

    Hi! Mate
15 is stock! I run 15 1.2 bar forged bottom end NO detonation all depends on set up, but 15 degrees stock fuel sys. .85 bar should be safe. Run on 98 oct. Do NOT use ethanol 100 you have the wrong injector set up!!!

I always use 98 nothing else . When I decide to upgrade turbos and injectors Ill worry about tune and all the relevant bits then .

How's it all going Adrian , we should catch up for beer :)

Hi mate, the problem occurs after long term use, the injectors are fed constant 12v, the ecu controls the earth, when you turn off the motor the injectors are still live. Ethanol allows the fuel to hold a small amount of water which causes electrolisious eventually leading to injector breakdown. But in saying that when I go on a trip I will run a tank of e100 because it cleans out the fuel sys. Just don't leave it in there long term!
