Strut Brace doesn't fit my series 1 NOturbo engine.
As shown in photo, the brace makes contact with hard pipes.

I assume that there is some slight difference in later Zeds plumbing that allows this brace to fit. If you know about this and you have a Zed in Brisbane area let me know.

PS: bought this from a forum member who took it off another Zed

Nope, that bit is the same between NA and TT's. Stupid strut braces on zeds, either hit the plenum or the bonnet or you have to remove the throttle cable cover.

  3. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Get rid of the hard pipes, just plumb the filter with a hose straight to the rail.

Better yet get rid of the strut brace, looks about as strong as Chrispy's arms

You might be able to bend the hard line out of the way to fit better. But that brace isn't going to do anything other than rub on stuff and look pretty.

    ...because it didn't fit.

He is a multi Zed owner, maybe I'll ask him which Zed it came off.

Looks can be deceiving (Crispy's arms are made of titanium alloy but this is just Al)
I always look at these strut braces and wonder how a two point brace with relatively weak (and pivoted) joint can make any difference, but l was curious enough to try and find out for myself.
Members keep writing that they make a difference.

So l will look for another one some day ;)

    Thanks.

 Not my fault I work smarter and not harder :p Cheater pipes and breaker bars, practically stuff all arm strength required!

Some nice saggy engine mounts will help it fit :p It looks identical to the strutbrace I used to have ($50 ebay job). Hit bonnet and plenum and fuel lines. Waste of money. Wasn't even that shiny.

Might be the same one
(NB: l didn't get it from Crispy)

I wonder which make of car it is supposed to fit?

Yeh - engine mounts damage or car accident can change the position of the motor - this bar should fit regardless of fuel lines - it obviously fit a Z before and I would be surprised if that Z's fuel lines didnt clear the brace

You also have the option to use a sub chassis brace instead - theres quite a few variants around that will help to achieve the same bracing effect but use different mount points (under instead of over)

You can bend it with more angle and length to fit - but you need to then be careful of bonnet clearance at the same time or it may rub on the bonnet from the height adjustment

I think your best to really check the dimensions on the front chassis so you can confirm what the actual problem is (just for your own piece of mind) - every dimension and length for all points is in the manual - its quite good in that regard - inspecting underneath first off will normally quickly reveal any differences - the cross lengths are the actual lengths to check as they will tell you if the mount was pushed up slightly even in a small bingle.

If you find that something is out in length - you can often fix the problem yourself using jacks/ levers and pulleys instead of needing a professional chassis repairing brace. This is because the Z32 flexs a lot in both the chassis and engine bay when moving compared to many other cars and is also why everyone braces the Z32 everywhere as well. (How many types of braces can you buy for the Z32 - I can think of twelve different types just off the top of my head - lol)

Put a jack on one corner and you can see chassis bend considerably (even when braced - it still flexs a lot lol)

Theres so much flex everywhere in the Z32 that I know about but Anti even surprised me more recently by getting me to watch the brake booster whilst he pressed the brakes - the whole bloody firewall moves! - I though his foot was gonna come through the bloody thing - lol - I am obviously getting a brake strut now before the whole firewall bends as a result

    - still cant believe that nissan would let it pass like that with tha much flex - lol - but I guess that some race car drivers also think that flex makes there car turn faster (thats argumentative at the least though as its a driving style preference)! Cant complain if it won le mans and daytona - lol

Anyway - my point is that if you check the dimensions of the chassis you will then know the best way to fix the problem, instead of making a problem to fit - lol

Good luck with it all mate - hope it works out for you!

My strut brace does the exact same thing. Has been fine for 20,000km.
It has just left a little mark on my plenum and mark on my fuel lines. Nothing to stress about!

If you are stressing, just re-route the fuel lines around the back of the engine.

This brace came off of zx2nv's old car. I cannot comment on clearance issues with fuel hardlines etc as the car was running an aftermarket FPR and flexible hoses.

If you cannot resolve the issue, shoot me a PM and will happily refund you. Can go in the bin alongside the "doesntfitforshit" UAS brace I threw out.

    Cheers

Hey Mick that's a shame -would be a good purchase for somebody eliminating the upper lines. But of course all depends on how long you want to store it...

Where does the other brace foul? Hood or plenum?

the UAS one? It fouled in fuel soft lines, fuel hardlines and bonnet. Wasn't going to attempt bending chrome plated fuel lines out of the way, only to have EFI hose rubbing against it, and then a freshly resprayed underbonnet rubbing as well.

Cannot comment on david's fitment on a stock setup unfortunately, but am more than happy to refund, should he be in the same predicament.

How does one brace the top of the strut towers any other way?

No ya don't. Put 4mm washers under the ends then it fits fine with the cover in place.

I found my zed turned into corners better without the brace. It was most noticeable in tight chicanes....(roundabouts) haha
